Nick, what if you run 'gconftool --type bool --set
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled true', does it work
then?
If yes, the issue is that your g-s-d settings have it disabled, and then
when you log in and g-s-d starts, it sets Device Enabled to 0, but
doesn't touch Synaptics

For the record: this crash is unlikely to happen out there: it happened

After 2 minutes that the mobile is plugged in, the voice Enable Mobile
Broadband appears and I can surf the web.

So I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a virtual drive and tried to sync up my
new generated keys. With Ubuntu's servers. I could not do this with out
deleting the default servers that are in seahorse. Once I removed all
the server but the Ubuntu one keys synced up right away.
