For some reason, the main issue of this report now hit me. Root cannot
be unmounted, because dhclient and dnsmasq is still running at this
point (verified by running lsof in umountroot).

Apparently the patches for #1034928 didn't make it upstream for the
release of 12.10 as I'm experiencing this very same issue after
upgrading to 12.10.

I did a fresh install of 12.04 and then tried to install fglrx-updates
through jockey. Jockey ended with an error. I attached the jockey.log.
Installation through synaptic was ok and fglrx is working now.

Ok, I searched in Synaptic for all the language packs, and noticed that
language-pack-ko-base (or something like that) had a CONFLICT in its
properties dialog box with language-pack-gnome-ko (or something like
that) for the Korean (I assume it would be the same with Spanish and
I have the same issue, in the login screen and while typing my
credentials, I see the cursor move, and also sometimes after login.
Sometimes, after I entered my credentials and try to login (hit enter,
or click with the mouse), I'm not logged in, but the login is shown
again, like it has reset
I just restarted my comp and now I get notification however my session
is still lost after starting a webapp.

I've just upgraded my computer from 12.04 to 12.10. I use chromium as my
default browser and I have it configured to restore my previous browsing
session when I start it up. (I get my previously opened websites back.)

As described above. Lightdm shows my desktop wallpaper and these of
other accounts if I switch between them. But if I login the wallpaper
doesn't stay in the background but I get for several seconds a black
background before my wallpaper gets re-shown.

Thanks for your bug report. I remember someone havig this as well.
For now, I'll mark this as invalid because it's not a problem with
translations.
