Mathias Dietrich, thank you for testing the mainline kernel. Which
v3.10-rc did you test? As well, did the mainline kernel you tested
completely eliminate the problem, or just alleviate major symptoms?
If it did not completely eliminate the problem, as per
Did you edit the file by hand? If so, something went wrong. Post the
contents of the file (/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf)

I'm also affected by this bug, and am trying Vishnu's solution.
In the meantime, you can use 13.04 by selecting the 3.5 kernel from Grub
at boot.
