Now the newest version in the official repository (331.38-0ubuntu2) breaks the
X.
I have tried this with the nvidia graphics card 285GTX and with the package
nvidia-331_331.38-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb and with the newest kernel 3.13.1 from
mainline.
X will not start and only console is left to use.
For me, the freeze and this issue was fixed with installing the new
alsa-utils (1.0.27.2-1ubuntu2).

Actually, I did not write LibreOffice_4.1 does not start ONLY in Gnome-shell DE.
I did not test it in any other DE, so I did not make other claims either.
In fact, I only use Gnome-shell.
As to this bug.
The correct solution is to rebuild libreoffice-writer to depend on lpsolve.
** Summary
Unfortunately I cannot do the stacktrace.
However, this is error message I get from terminal:
javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
Warning: failed to read path from javaldx
/usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin:
error while loading shared libraries: liblpsolve55.so:
cannot open
After downgrading to the version 4.0.2-0ubuntu5 this is what get in
terminal:
Warning: failed to read path from javaldx
However, the warning does not prevent the writer from starting just
fine.
So the problem must be the shared object file: liblpsolve55.so.

I have three different setups (one desktop with NVidia, one with ATI and one

all with Saucy development distro with no additional PPA's enabled.
I have experienced this kind of slowing down when opening Synaptic.
Opening Synaptic is delayed about 10 sec. It will open finally, however.
I traced the bug to the package at-spi2-core (libatspi2.0-0 version
2.9.90-0ubuntu1)
and possibly also to at-spi2-atk (libatk-bridge2.0-0 version

I am of the same opinion with philinux regarding gksu nautilus.
Also, I very often clean folders and files or edit them with gksu nautilus
and then with gedit.
Believe me, it is a useuful command.
Anyway we need an explanation why this is not working anymore.
