Sorry - I write the bug report some years ago so I'm not sure what I did
to fix it since I don't use Ubuntu any more.
I think (but I'm not sure) that I would unload the module in the suspend
script and then reload it in the resume script - in fact I think Ubuntu
has a sysconfig setting

I just tried this in the guest session and I can not reproduce this, I
tried all the apps that you mention here.
If you can reproduce this, could you please open it in a terminal and
attach the terminal output of software-center?

There's more cleanup to do after that (dropping triggers, cache
generation script, etc.), but that's not very important and can happen
in P. I'll commit that cleanup to the branch now.
