booting into a newer kernel without the feature.

After upgrading to 331.113 I have experienced distorted desktop. I have
also experienced the same problem after trying to upgrade to 14.10 and
that's why I've reverted to backup of 14.04.
I is quite strange. Unity controls are ok. I.e. Dash and panel on top

Today, after an update of Ubuntu 14.04 I had the error message reported in this
bug: bbswitch: No discrete VGA device found.
Yesterday when I installed the latest updates availble I noticed that it was
installing nvidia-331-updates*, nvidia-libopencl-*, nvidia-prime and nvidia
settings.
Thanks fo the tip, NrNice! I will try it. That will actually disable
said jacks, am I right? I.e., it would be a temporary fix rather than a
solution?

It will not disable the input/outpout sound but only physical pluggin
detection. You will have to select with or alsamixer (CLI), or alsa
sound GUI or PulseAudio Volume Control GUI.
IMHO better a manual working setup than a non working automatic.

Hi i just installed ubuntu 14.10,after booting i can see my desktop background
i also can log in,changing from desktop to terminal, but every time i go to
desktop i only see the background image with no icons or menu bar.
I've tried sudo apt-get
I have now 3 IIyama touchscreens with eGalax touchpanels the:
2x IIyama T1931-SR-b (5 wire resistive)
IIyama T1931-SAW-b (Acousic Wave)
The 1st screen (SR) worked out of the box and retained it's calibration but
needed a startup script and udev rule

Krzysztof, you should be using 3.13.0-39 patched by me (the newer
version is the vanilla Ubuntu kernel which does not support MST).
Regarding your question about cables: you should not worry about that.

I have ATI Radeon HD 7850 graphic card and AMD drivers, so I'm not sure
what it means form me Intel Drivers ?
Another also very important in my current situation is how to downgrade kernel
from current 3.13.0-40 to yours 3.13.0-39 patched ?

the title is wrong,i dont know if the problem is related with nouveau
package,i just tried sudo update-manager -d and the answer is can not
open display i also did sudo do-release-upgrade the answer is no
upgrade needed,i've the latest version

Sorry Krzysztof, this bug is dedicated only to supporting Intel VGAs, so
none of the packages here would solve your problem.
Since you use the proprietary AMD drivers you should examine the
features their driver support and follow their instructions.
