sudo chattr +i /etc/resolv.conf

Just to note that upgrading to the latest Lucid telepathy PPA fixes this
(see this Ubuntu forums thread:

that, if it is the GTalk protocol change in comment #24, the telepathy
guys have already fixed it.

On my system the symlinks /var/lock - /run/lock and /var/run - /run
already exist and I have the same issue. Is the only workaround to
change the sleep parameters in /etc/init/failsafe.conf? I'm using gdm,
xfce4 and ubuntu 11.10.

thank you for your bug report, the issue was an ubuntuone-client-gnome
which should be fixed with the current stable update, could you update
it, restart your session and see if that's still an issue?
