[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1603117] Re: Pixelated fonts in menu and title bars

2016-09-08 Thread Mordi
I might have the same problem.

Window menu fonts are distorted/pixelated after reboot and automatic
login, as there was a hinting problem. This occurs regardless the menus
are displayed on mouse hovering or are always displayed. The problem can
fixed by logging out and in (i.e., not by restarting).

My fonts look like this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/762045/why-the-
font-of-menu-is-different-on-global-bar-and-window-bar

The problem does not occur if I disable automatic logins.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1767817] Re: Full text search does not work

2018-05-20 Thread Mordi
Gnome developers think that this issue is a decision made by Ubuntu:

"Unfortunately, Ubuntu disables the technology we use for that. Please
report there."

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/issues/451

As said above, Full text search should be removed from Ubuntu if it is
not even supposed to work.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1767817] Re: Full text search does not work

2018-05-03 Thread Mordi
I kind of figured this out. In addition to Tracker, you need Gnome
Documents and gnome-shell-extensions installed. Launch Gnome Documents,
and it will index your files. Now you will be able to search by content
from Gnome Documents and Gnome Shell, but still not from Nautilus.
Perhaps this is because Ubuntu installs an older version of Nautilus
(3.26).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1767817] Re: Full text search does not work

2018-08-03 Thread Mordi
You don't need Nautilus to search documents by content: for that,
install gnome-documents. However, there is a bug: if you search
documents from Gnome Shell, Gnome Documents will eventually crash and
need to be restarted. To get around this bug, you have to disable the
functionality from Settings/Search. Thereby, the only way to search
documents by content is from Gnome Documents -app.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1819193] Re: Document search does not work

2019-03-16 Thread Mordi
I am able to make this work by first stopping and then restarting the
"gnome-documents" process. Search results from GNOME Shell will then be
opened in Documents as expected. Unfortunately, after a few searches,
Documents will crash and searching from g-s will no longer work.

I suspect that this is a Gnome Documents bug. However, Gnome Documents
in itself will not crash unless it is accessed from GNOME Shell search
results.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1819937] Re: "Files" will not open from GNOME Shell search results

2019-03-14 Thread Mordi
To reproduce the bug:

1. Make a search from GNOME Shell for file names. I have tested this with docs
and pdfs mostly.
2. From the search results, click to open the results in Nautilus. Apparently,
this will repeat the search in Nautilus.

No search results will be shown in Nautilus even though the files exist
and were displayed as search results in GNOME Shell.

If I deselect the search option in the just opened Nautilus window and
redo the search directly from Nautilus, I get expected results.

Status in nautilus source package in Cosmic:

Bug description:
  * Impact
The text search feature, which is depending on tracker, is not working even
when the service is installed

  * Test case
  - install tracker and restart your session
  - echo 'Nautilus is great' > ~/txt
  - open nautilus and type 'great' in the search entry

-> the file should be listed

  * Regression potential

That's changing the search provider logic, make sure that searching
for file without tracker still works (that only look at filenames) and
there is no extra logging/cpu usage

  ---

Background: I have installed Tracker. It has finished indexing. I can
also use Tracker's command line interface to search by content.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2015674] [NEW] Unread mail notification does not update

2023-04-09 Thread Mordi
Public bug reported:

The Thunderbird icon on the dock shows the count of new mails correctly,
but the icon does not update itself once the emails have been read. Even
restarting the app will not update the icon.

I would expect the notification icon to show zero (new emails) once the
mails have been read.
