I think I've figured out why this is happening. If I restart directly into Ubuntu, then it works correctly and the setting is remembered. However, if I restart into Unity, then back into Ubuntu, the setting is forgotten. Perhaps Unity is overwriting the setting? -- You received this bug

Inkscape and Atril both have the same print dialog. It looks like the attached screenshot. Notice "Scale" is set to 101.5%. This is the only way I can get either of them to print at the correct size. LibreOffice has a different print dialog with no scaling options at all, hence why I had to print

Olivier, since I wrote comment #26, I actually got it working and since then it seems to be reliable. What I did was: 1. Stopped Thunderbird, which had been running in safe mode. 2. sudo apt remove thunderbird-locale* 3. sudo apt install thunderbird-locale-en-gb 4. Start Thunderbird normally.
