Hi bibliographers,
I had a look at the design document. Looks professional, although sometimes a
bit too abstract for my personal liking. Concerning the general concepts I
agree. Issues will probably arise later when things get more detailed and
specific.
Regarding Bruce's answers to Marthas
too, inclucing them
into the document should imho be optional - so every user can decide that for
him-/herself ... if that is conceptionally possible, of course.

which is word processor, the other one having bibliographic as component.
A new version of the document is attached. Also includes the most requested

, although maybe not optimal for every kind of document (e.g. flyers).
But anyway: A good idea to start with.
Have you looked at Apple's new word-processing/DTP application?
I don't have an Apple, but anyway: Can you point me to a web page or
screenshots?

(P.S. I havn't looked at the other aspects of you schema yet.)

experience with Ruby or Phython but I don't expect it to be very different.
Anyway, my opinion is NOT to use such flattened layout.
P.S. Sorry for the long delay, but our mailing system had a crash last weekend.
Hope this helps.

file format is something that is to last, and that needs to be
open for future extensions. Even if formatting isn't a topic now, it might
become in two or three years. Changing a GUI is easy, but having to switch to a
new incompatible XML schema then will produce much more pain.

in a GUI I'd recomment a
techniqe used quite often in Eclipse: You type some keyword in a filter text
field, lets say APA, and the GUI immediately filters the list of styles to
only contain those that have APA in their name.
