Hi.

Testing KDE-DEV 20161105

Installed sucessfully

I've discovered that /etc/hosts file is empty

should be something like :

# cat /etc/hosts
# /etc/hosts: Local Host Database
#
# This file describes a number of aliases-to-address mappings for the for
# local hosts that share this file.
#
# In the presence of the domain name service or NIS, this file may not be
# consulted at all; see /etc/host.conf for the resolution order.
#

# IPv4 and IPv6 localhost aliases
127.0.0.1 localhost sabayon
::1 localhost sabayon

#
# Imaginary network.
#10.0.0.2 myname
#10.0.0.3 myfriend
#
# According to RFC 1918, you can use the following IP networks for private
# nets which will never be connected to the Internet:
#
# 10.0.0.0- 10.255.255.255
# 172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
# 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
#
# In case you want to be able to connect directly to the Internet (i.e. not
# behind a NAT, ADSL router, etc...), you need real official assigned
# numbers. Do not try to invent your own network numbers but instead
get one
# from your network provider (if any) or from your regional registry (ARIN,
# APNIC, LACNIC, RIPE NCC, or AfriNIC.)

Hi

SL-KDE-dev 201601027

Tested on DELL Laptop Latitude E6330 . everything went smoothly :D
- Backgorund wallpaper is set correctly (Sabayon wallpaper)
- Anaconda now works fine. no crash after language selectionn
- Sabayon was installed sucessfully (Standard Partition + auto partitioning)

No other O.S. installed

I'll try others partiotning mode and I'll try to install on other
Laptop/Desktop with more O.S. installed

First boot after install. At login there's no Sabayon SDDM theme
see https://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img922/1536/j4uqgA.jpg

Thank you very much :)

Re: [sabayon-dev] Testing DAILY ISO

2016-10-25 Thread Mitch Harder
I tested the Sabayon_Linux_DAILY_amd64_MATE-dev iso dated Oct. 24 on a
Lenovo laptop with Intel graphics.

Everything started fine.

Anaconda would start without crashing, but I do not have this system
partitioned for fully installing with Anaconda, so I could only test
as far as starting Anaconda, and proceeding to the manual partitioning
section without completing that portion.

can you attach the crash logs? the errors are not the same every time :)

Re: [sabayon-dev] Testing DAILY ISO

2016-10-25 Thread sabayonino
Hi Ettore ,

My Dell laptop doesn't like Sabayon :D
This laptop had Windows+Kubuntu OS installed
I thought Anaconda didn't like partitioning schema...
Tried wipping harddrive (N°1 SSD only) ... no changes.Anaconda crashed.

Trying to install on Lenovo B70 , no anaconda crash.Everything goes fine
(UEFI enabled/disabled)
but i need to force i915.enable_psr=0
at boot to avoid blinking screen (Nvidia card +Intel)

Installed the same iso on Intel Skylake Desktop everything went fine.

...Dell sucks !! :D

What can I do with my Dell Laptop and Sabayon ? :D
Is it reliable ?

Cheeers

Hi Ettore , bad news

Testing KDE-DEV 20161024 via Qemu works fine
but trying to install the same ISO on my Dell laptop Anaconda crash
(same old error)

;(

Tried to install Linux-Mint and Kubuntu to the same laptop (Dell)
without any problems :|

So I think it's not related on any hardware issue (I hope ! )

I'll try KDE-DEV and Other ISO on other laptop/Desktop ASAP

Re: [sabayon-dev] Testing DAILY ISO

2016-10-17 Thread Ettore Di Giacinto
Thanks.

The problem is the new version bump of NetworkManager, that caused
incompabilities with the anaconda implementation which was based on the old
stable version.

I just pushed the new version that should address the issue in
sabayon-limbo, consider that you can also upgrade anaconda during LiveCD
for testing :)

Cheers

Hi guys

another test

I've installed LinuxMint (keeping free space for Sabayon)

Booted sabayon and started install

Choosed Auto-Partitioning (Standard Partition)
and kept LinuxMint bootloader

Oh well...nothing to report ...everything went well

update-grub from LinuxMint recognized SL

all fine.

cheers :)

Please don't!

Its much easier for those who want tapping to enable it than it is for
those who have problems with it(like me, who clicks all over the place
by mistake with it enabled) to disable it. One of the best things with
Linux is that stuff ain't enabled by default. I assume "touchpad click"
means tapping, ie the same as clicking a mouse button by tap anywhere on
the touchpad

However. Make it easy for people to enable it if they want it.

updated KDE-DEV ISO (20160921)

Anaconda still crash at first step when choose auto partitioning

- Now Dolphin is faster.
- Dolphin-Terminal (F4) and Folders/files (and hidden files) are faster now.
- Start Anaconda. Choosing Auto partitioning ... anaconda fails
see
https://www.dropbox.com/s/i4vnlvz7g1bhiap/20160921-KDE-DEV-anaconda_crash?dl=0

- restart anaconda and choosing manual partitioning and then "auto
partitoning" , installer goes on all fine.

Resend.

Hi.Here I am...

Now to test KDE-DEV (now to my Dell Latitude E6330)

- System take a while to load desktop env.
- localization and keyboard are set fine
- still have "no session found for uid 1000 (unknown)" error and
I can't manage wifi connections or mount USB Device (same issue)

- Dolphin is very slow to show dirs/files (and hidden dirs/files)
- dolphin-terminal (F4) take a while to open.

- Tried to install configuring automatic partitioning.
 Anaconda crashed. See log attachment
https://www.dropbox.com/s/eg5u261bzsmkazt/anaconda_crash.tar.gz?dl=0

 :(

I thing is dbus issue (not sure of course)
 journalctl :
Unable to connect to DBus session bus: ('Unable to connect to session
 bus: %s', GLib.Error('The connection is closed', 'g-io-error-quark',
 18)) (extracted from anaconda-journalctl log)

if i try to restart dbus service all system freeze :D

Hello,

the attachment is too big. See the reason stated in the mail.
It's bad practise to send attachments via Mailing Lists anyway (causing
too much traffic).

Upload it somewhere and just share the link via ML, please.

same things with old DAILY (20160918) , latest KDE daily not tested yet.

I think it's dbus issue (not sure 'cause I can't manage anything.. USB
drive,wired/wireless conenctions and more ...) can't paste any outputs.
I revived "1000 UID (unknowm)" error or something like...
But after install everything is fine

Then :

--- Installed MATE + Encrypted Home (3 installations into two different
pc desktops) with various partitioning combinations . No problems to
report :) . Good

--- Same things for Xfce-DEV Edition.
- Localization and keyboard are set propely
There is only one annoing problem : cant'see disk info boxes clearly .
Boxes are too bright.
see http://imageshack.com/a/img921/8149/LliPqI.png

Changing theme/colors schema has no effect.

please change foreground or backgorund colors if it depends on Anaconda
installer :D

Sabayon Mate hasn't this issue

Greetings,

I am still noticing a delay on the KDE iso from when it boots to loading
KDE. It finishes up the boot sequence and give
me a black screen for a solid 1-2 mins then kde loads up. I am testing
these ISO's on KVM at the moment. I have add an additional cpu to verify
that is was not the issue. Current specs are 1028mb and 2 cores. Host
machine is a 16 core AMD Bulldozer with 32G of ram so its no slouch.

It also is pegging the cpu as soon at anaconda launch's.

Anyone else seeing these issues? Other then that it seems fine other then
the points that mudler pointed out.
LVM and LUKS worked great this time around!!!

If additional information is needed let me know I am more then happy to
provide it.

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi

I've updated all ISOs to 20160920 (via rsync)

Now I'm installing Mate-DEV edition

I can see new splash logo

Localization is set fine (system , keyboard and installer are set to it_IT)

- Standard partition (/boot / /home) - No encryption for Home

Installation was completed without errors.

Booting new Sabayon . All is fine. Ready to start

I'm going to be test Mate-DEV with Encripted home

then I'll test Xfce-DEV and KDE-DEV ASAP
..I'll try Gnome also :X ... :D

I'm testing SL running my new Skylake HW

see cookbug attachment for all info
