I rip once but encode twice (using EAC and MAREO) - FLAC for use with the Squeezebox (and archiving) and MP3 for use in portable players and the car, so yes it does help. It means going through 300 albums with MP3tag and adding an extra tag but I'm quite anal about keeping things neat. Unless of

Instead of changing two sets of tags, just change the FLAC set and then batch convert them to MP3 using Foobar2000 (or similar). Admitedly the encoding time will be significant for 300 albums, but at least it can be done in the background and unattended. -- funkstar
