I've had a squeezebox and an old SLIMP3 for ages and am running the
latest version of slimserver on XP. I'm not sure when it happened but I
noticed a while ago that there is a problem with compilation albums.
Each track on the album is

From your screen shots, it looks like you are still scanning the library
when you see this behaviour. My experience is that the album thumbnails
are the last thing to be built by the scan and only appear at the very
end. Do you still see this behaviour after the scan has finished?

I didn't let it get that far I noticed other problems as well, remote
streaming not working, text in window pane not wrapping correctly.
Whilst the 'scanner.exe' process was running, my PC kept giving me
warnings about running out of virtual memory which I find hard to
believe as SlimServer is

Pre-n and MIMO are pretty good though. You would probably get higher
throughput and longer range than with a standard g router.

I also just considered--I only really ever use the remote-control
interface. I went to the web interface to set up the sync but did
everything else from the remote control on one device. Perhaps there's
different behavior when you set the playlist for both devices from the
web interface?

Should have mentioned if you want to lose the bitrate data alltogether
you can edit SlimServer\server\HTML\Fishbone\status_header.html . The
plus side would be that the artist album links won't get pushed out of
frame as quickly.

I've just switched my slimserver over from my mp3 folder to my freshly
ripped FLAC folder. Previously I could stream the mp3s no problem from
slimserver on my home pc to winamp on my work laptop at the office.
Now when I show winamp the stream and tell slimserver to use lame to
encode the flacs

I am in the same situation even though I'm using LAME mp3. Here is
something else you can do: leave your iPod set up to automatically
sync, but only sync specific playlists (don't sync all). In your
library, create a playlist called something like My Synced Music.
Set the iPod to only sync
Note that the option is NOT there if you have SlimServer configured to
look for music only in iTunes and have the music folder field blank. I
ran into this myself and it is not obvious. I thought I was going nuts
because I couldn't find the option.

Probably because in Server settings/file types the server is set to
transcode both of those types to FLAC, which would stop ff/RW working.
Uncheck the boxes for AIFF to FLAC and WAV to FLAC.
