Slimserver shouldn't be accessing you music folder at all when idle. I was running DTrace on my Solaris system and the only file access made by SlimServer was in response to my screensavers refreshing (SuperDateTime and RSS News Ticker). There was some occasional MySQL activity but no files

If you mean that you want to set the brightness to zero in that mode, then you can turn it off, then use the brightness button on the remote to adjust. There will still be a very slight glow, so if that is what is bothering you then you may be out of luck - unplugging the PSU will work! HTH
