OK. do you have a link to the Developers forum. I think it's an issue
worth raising. As you say, a lot of table activity takes place at run
time which would not be necessary if the Playlist table was used as a
'Notepad' type table which had been built from the 'Catalog' tables.

Is it possible to use windows media player as an alternative to

I had a very similar problem with my controller.
Although the signal quality was quite good (66 to 85) on the SB3/SBR
side (all three working great), the controller constantly showed a poor
(25 to 50) signal to noise ratio when surrounding the players.
It regularly lost connection to the network,
SqueezeBoxes require SqueezeCenter, so no, you can't use Media Player.
Is there a specific reason for using WAV files? I would recomend
compressing them to FLAC then you can embed meta data for the files. It
will also reduce the storage space needed by about half. Oh and FLAC is

I have been successfully using SB3 through wireless connection, but now
need to connect through a homeplug setup.
However, SB will now not connect to the router when using the Homeplugs

i first set them up the initial hitch in getting them to work was just
having the correct settings within my squeezebox-i.e. proper wired
ethernet settings.

Thanks for your reply. My problem was in fact the opposite, I could log
in to the network but not my own center. Anyway, the problem was easily
solved - I found that I had pointed it to my former PC name, which, off
course, it couldn't find. So now everything is pure happiness again.

Yes, you can make softsqeeze emulate an SB3 which the controller can
use. On my Linux laptop I just install squeezecenter and put my
network card in AP mode with a dhcp server. You could probably setup
internet connection sharing on windows which would give similar
results.
