I don't think 15 minutes to work out a major software upgrade sounds
unreasonable.
The only time I'm bothered by changes are when they seem gratuitously
unnecessary or pointless.
Of course, sometimes companies do an extraordinarily poor job of

Assuming that the server and your netbook are on the same LAN (ie, by
remote you don't mean from a different LAN via the internet) it's
simple: point the netbook's browser to http://serverip:9000/, where
serverip is the local IP address of the Sony laptop. As the Sony

Sim, é muito fácil especificar um endereço IP static. Exactly how you
do it depends on what OS is running on your Sony. Normally in the
network setup parameters you can set whether the pc gets its IP address
dynamically from the router or gets a fixed IP address. Set a fixed IP

Do they have to be IP addresses set on the devices themselves, or do you
just want to be sure that they have fixed/known IP addresses? If it's
the latter, then look into using DHCP reservations on your router. You
just tie the assigned IP addresses to the MAC addresses of the devices.

Thanks for the response and for taking an interest. The info you asked
