There was a long time that squeezeplay didn't sync to other players for
me. The last year or so though squeezeplay seems to be syncing pretty
well with by SBT. Not sure if the SB3 would behave differently. I
wouldn't call it perfect though but it's not bad either.

Yes you need a MySB.com account to use most services which your SBS
server will connect too. Your player itself need not ever connect
directly to MySB.com.

I just bought an amazing little $20 gizmo called the flirc.
This allows you to use virtually any remote to control your PC - I
bought it specifically to use with XBMC media center program which I
have piped through to our TV.
