the anchor could yet be tweaked, but it's much much easier to use now.

Didn't see any.
They had one other item - believe it's the regular Squeezebox (?), and
it is also on sale, but nothing extra-extra-special.

to music, (Isn't this the main reason to own this wonderful
device) I have several hundred gigs of shows to convert from the shn
format. Taking time out to convert sure does take away some of that

I would love to have the ability to play shn files for a bit longer
with SC7.

I've red that the headphone port can be used to send IR commands. Can it be used to receive IR commands?

It just depends on the components you own. All of mine except theComcast cable box have discrete on/off codes even though only one has discrete buttons on their remotes.

I like my Harmony 880 remote, but I disagree that it in any way solves problems with devices which don't have discrete on/off codes. It keeps track, but in my experience, often ends up out-of-sync with the devices which don't have discrete codes.

Perhaps I should try relearning the NAD's remote codes. I have noticed that it steps volume up and down two steps at a time, so maybe some of the other codes aren't 100% correct either.

I'm aware of anapod explorer and it seems like media monkey has some

Are there others?
Which ones do you like?

the configuration options for this under diskwriter in the Foobar preferences dialog. You can also reach these settings via the same right mouse click described above. Stare at the options for a while and you'll probably figure it out. Searchthe SlimDevices forums for more help.

Alternately, you can just point Foobar to thelame.exe file on your machine in the encoder configuration dialog.

Thank you for the quick replies.
I tried both methods, and it still isn't starting. The firewall is
configured for SlimServer. Even so, I turned it off and tried again.
Still didn't start. Any other suggestions?

It's the Windows Firewall.
Under the Exceptions tab the following appear and are checked:
SlimServer 3483 tcp
SlimServer 3483 udp
SlimServer 9000 tcp
UPnP Framework (I'm not sure if this one came from the SlimServer
install or not, but it does appear)

Get the same behavior with the firewall enabled or disabled.
I also now get an error on XP startup asking me to send an error report
to Microsoft. It reads, slim.exe encountered a problem and needed to
close.

I looked in the website FAQ and did'nt see any mention of the original
squeezebox being able to access the slim network, anyone got any
insight(s), does it require only slimserver suppport or are there
firmware dependencies?
Thanks

I use foobar2000 for that purpose and like it alot. Configuring it
the first time around can be a bit of a chore.
