You might check the actual cost of the DAC in the SB2. I'll bet it's less

I might? Apparently you couldn't be bothered to.
Even if we settled on $5 (probably low) -- that's still over five
times the cost of a $0.99 DAC. There's lots of room for improvement

streaming through the wireless connection with a full 100%
buffer and not a single glitch!
How does one make a surround wav? For example, I'd like to rip some audio
off a DVD or two and play it (in surround sound) via the SB.
I would agree 5.4.1 is way more usable. But, I still hold out hope for 6.+
My advice is that priorities are set then the things are fixed in order.

DVDs are not exactly archival. Naturally, hard drives have the issue that
your OS may not support the HD in the future. I often feel like a dung
beetle copying all my stuff from computer to computer. Anyway, I just use
HDs.

corruption issues.

wiped cache
waited for it to finish rescanning
...now
browse by artist or album is still messed up... so I'm back to my old way of
browse music folder.
But now what's even worse is that

Basically, the problem is that it won't connect in wireless mode.

No WEP/WPA... just MAC filering which, even when off, doesn't work. Also, I
turned on/off SSID broadcast with no effect.
