I usually don't update to a new version of SBS until I'm fairly certain
that it's not going to break any of the plugins I use regularly. So is
there anyway to turn off the update nag that pops up periodically from
the system tray? Thanks.

I also have the D-Link DIR-655 router broadcasting in G/N mode and use
an SB3 as a wireless bridge for my Roku Netflix player. This combination
works well, although I don't use it for HD.

Why do so many things, like sound effects and podcasts, depend on
mysqueezebox.com now. Is is just so Squeeze Radio users won't have to
turn on their computers and figure out Squeezebox Server?

There's also the cool Radiofeeds plugin for UK and Irish stations that
includes Classic FM at 128k. You need a password to use it, so go here

Can I just add that podcasts remain a mystery to me. I can see my
podcasts under extras in SBS, but apparently to see them in iPeng, I
need to add them to my apps on mysqueezebox? And the two lists don't
sync up?
I've searched, but I still haven't seen this adequately explained.

Looking at the screen shots reminded me that one area where Sonos gets
it right is player management and synchronization. I haven't used it,
but the Sonos interface appears to be much more logical and easy to use
than anything I've seen so far from Slim/Logitech.

Seems harder to find the plugins page. Unless I missed it, you have to
access one of the pages that still has the old menu system, like the
wiki, before you can see the plugins menu.

You could always retag the tracks so that the Album Artist appears in
the Artist field for each one. If you're worried about losing the
information, you could include the individual artist in the title of
the track.

I'd just add that iPeng works very well in combination with the iPeng
skin. When you need a function that's not in iPeng yet, it's easy
enough to open Safari and use the iPeng skin.

Well, the only configuration difference between the two players is that
I have a Roku Netflix player connected to the Ethernet port of the
more-distant SB3. When I disconnected that cable, the two SB3s seemed
to get back into sync.
I'll need to play with this some more, I guess.

If you're using plugins you can't live without, you might check to see
if they're supported yet. Other than that, SC7 is the best release so
far.

problem.

the PC boots, when the bubble message appears that
says SqueezeCenter is starting. SqueezeCenter always seems to take a
minute or two longer than any other process.

also compatible with other media servers,
like Firefly and TVersity.
Another thing to note is that the Soundbridge radio only works with
802.11b. After I set my router to transmit both b and g, I haven't had
any problems.

SS on a box running WinXP MCE and use wake on LAN a lot.

And if you already have a large CD collection, expect to spend many long
evenings getting them all ripped and tagged just the way want them. But
it'll be worth it!
ps. Also, once you find out how sweet the Squeezebox can be, expect
your CD player to start gathering a lot of dust.

If your network can support WPA, switch to it and then you can enter the
code word on the Squeezebox.
If your router doesn't support WPA now, you might try upgrading the
firmware.

Parasound makes some inexpensive amps and tuners that are also small in
size. If you buy factory reconditioned, you should be able to get the
Zamp and the Ztuner for around $500. Check Audio Advisor.
