works a treat
but SPDIF not. We can actually rule out winamp as I can see from the
control panel whether the sound card is getting an input an any
channel.

Thanks Sean. I've already tried another cable and it was the same
result. I'll pick up an optical one and see what happens.
Other than that all I can think of is that the SPDIF input on my sound
card isn't working.
