Roon has now released "RoonSpeakers" - endpoint software that makes
audio HW compatible with Roon.
Anybody have an idea if an SBT could be hacked and this software
installed on it?
I'd be interested, as it would enable music streaming from Roon to a
Touch, without using the present Roon
It's a real shame that the Empirical Audio Off Ramp 5 uses the HiFace
(1) chipset for USB audio input, which is no good for Linux, as this
would be pretty much perfect otherwise as it also offers LVDS I2S output
which is really hard to find on other interfaces.
This apparently will change in

I had been planning on getting another one anyway so I could add another
room synched to my main stereo.
I figure as long as I have copies of LMS and Touch firmware, there is no
reason a SB system can't work off a Local LMS server for many years.

Can you for instance display album art and the album/song title and

Just read that the updated Fire is open to the Google Android App store,

Another option is to build it with the SOtM USB PCI card and then
connect it directly to a USB DAC. The card is a noise/electricity
regulated alternative to standard noisy USB.

do a web search for instructions on switching the hard drive. It
involves a minor hack. Not difficult. Did it once myself.
The other possibility is that your power supply is shot and it can't
power the HD bootup. That can be checked by any reasonably competent
tech.

Sounds like something to do with your tagging. Check the tags and also
the SBS setup where it gives you options to define tagging: artist,
album artist, band, etc.

BTW, the Touch is supposed to be fully compatible with 24/96 files.
That alone would be a reason to buy it, for me.
