Why are you ripping 44kHz source material at 48kHz? That's going to
cause a resampling of all the data which could easily lead to what
you're hearing (IMHO).

The Touch seems better than the Classic, but to be honest if you're only

Both DHCP and the slimproto server discovery protocol rely on UDP
broadcast, I'm guessing something in the new firewall software is
interfering with that? Is your DHCP server in a router or something or
is it behind the firewall?

We have Tivos on each TV in the house. I run a little app called pyTivo
on the linux server which serves up any videos I have there to the Tivos
with transcoding as needed. Very simple, and works very well.

I don't know how much that Devolo thing is, but if you just put an SBR
in each room you'd get what you wanted pretty cheaply. Also think about

I've never heard of someone being refused warranty service on an SB due
to having opened it, and I've heard complaints on here about pretty much

Just to be 100% clear, the clock which is displayed when the Boom loses
server connection is not the same as the screensaver, it's just a very
simple time display - not really configurable. It does tell the time
though :)
And yes, the Boom will work fine with 7.3.x.

7.4 uses mysql just like previous versions. Something certainly doesn't
sound right in your setup as my performance is identical to 7.3 as far
as I can tell (FYI, New Music takes about 2 seconds for me).

Marketplace and Zune Pass are different and use different systems.
While Sonos/Sansa may be able to play WMA DRM, it certainly can't play
Zune Pass material. Zune Pass works only on Zune hardware and software.

Sure, you should be able to use a regular ethernet cable (don't need a
crossover as the Mac should be auto-sensing). You will need to set the
IP, netmask etc manually on the SB3.

not totally dependent on the server or network connection.
Whichever player you're controlling is though, so if you have network
issues you could still have control glitches.

Any SB remote will work with any SB, so yes the backlit one will work.
The Boom (mini) one will work too, BUT it doesn't have a brightness
button so you can't use it to trigger a fw update.

FYI, the red lines are normal and not a fault or a sign of a problem -
they're intrisic to the VFD display. You should be able to see them if
you look closely enough.
