I'm not sure what you mean by "radio-style" volume levelling - maybe you could explain? As far as I can tell you'd always need some concept of how loud a specific track is to be able to adjust the gain properly, which is what RG does. Or do you just mean a compressor?
As for crossfade - what file type are you using? Also crossfade and gapless playback are different things.
