Good to know 7.4.2 works well for the older platforms (apart from
breaking the analog clock on the controller), but still have not heard a
strong enough advantage to make it worth upgrading in an environment
like mine with no Radio or SqueezeNetwork.

I keep all of my players at full brightness at all times because when
not in use they display weather, stocks, caller ID, etc. I have not seen
any reduction in brightness over several years. (Maybe they will all
suddenly give out at the same time?!!)

So this would essentially put the Homeseer device status page onto a
Squeezebox Controller? Could be handy to dim the lights, close the
garage door, arm the security panel, etc. using an SBC.

A Parasound ZAmp is small enough for most applications where a small and
tidy installation is required. If Slim is going to match Sonos features
they should go for the local source input before worrying about a model
with a built-in amp.

I have 14 players and usually play with between 4 and 8 synced with no
problems. All but 2 are SB2/SB3. If I include the SB1 or SliMP3 in the
group then I sometimes see issues so I avoid doing that.

The common theme seems to be mixing SB2/3s with SliMP3s or Softsqueeze.
I replaced my SliMP3 with a Squeezebox 2 and do not see the problem
anymore.

I usually sync between 8 and 10 players, all wired, and do not have any
problems with drifting except on Internet Radio streams. I do have a
problem where the playlist will get stuck between songs when players
are synced. It never happens with a single independent player.

I noticed the other day that black/silver squeezeboxes are no longer
offered on the Buy Now page and there aren't many on Ebay either. Were
they discontinued along with the wired units? Are the white units about
to be cut as well? (also rare on ebay)

additional mounting options such as a way to mount it to the underside
