Radio 3 is only 160 kbps, which is well below the rate used in DVB

false. End of story, the article is wrong. Now you may think their
intention was to say that CDs are recorded at a sound quality level
which is equivalent to 128kbps MP3, but that's not what they said (and,

The bitrates mentioned above generally refer to MP3 encoding bitrates.

parts of your songs before compressing the rest to get the reduced

I used to be able to sync my live365 stream across players using
Slimserver 6.3.1. Upgrading to 6.5.1 broke this... I entered bug 4236

There are two issues but they may be interconnected.
Can you get radio on SoftSqueeze on the same PC as Slimserver ?
You should also put into the exclusion list socketwrapper.exe and
mplayer.exe. After an upgrade some users have found it necessary on
some security s/w/ to delete the old entries

(in most cases) the stream is run directly to the squeezebox from the
remote server - bypassing the slimserver entirely. This is the same

I seem to have a problem launching Internet Radio stations using
playlists. It seems to freeze up and I have to shutdown the
Squeezebox. I can launch the same radio stations either manually or by
setting it up in the SqueezeNetwork and it works fine. I am using 6.3.1

Well, I just got my new Squeezebox today and set up was a breeze.
Everything is working except for the Internet Radio off of the
SlimServer. I have checked all the file types listed above and have
6.3.0 Slimserver running.
When connecting to SqueezeNetwork, Internet Radio works perfectly.

problem receiving streams of 256+ from local music on my computer and
some internet stations stream fine at 160. But for others, it
constantly buffers at 128K or less (although, again I have no problem

As Michael says, Slimserver won't decode Ogg natively. I don't know if
this applies to radio streams as well as .ogg files, but you may need
to install LAME on your PC to get this stream to work - it's pretty
straightforward, see the Wiki below. Upgrading to 6.2.2. may also help

The M500 will work with Slimserver 6.2.x - there are plenty of Roku user
using slimserver. If you are sure slimserver is working ok (i.e. it
works with SoftSqueeze) and the problem is related to the M500 you will
get better support on the Roku site.
As a suggestion try forcing playback using MP3
Roku officially only supports a rather dated version of slimserver. It
could well be that the version you're using does not work with the
roku.
Check the roku webpage and search this forum for specific information.

Using the Live radio link - this station uses an old RealAudio format at
a low speed 8kb/s

At present RealAudio support is provided through AlienBBC and although
mplayer (key part of AlienBBC) can play this format, the "PNM://"
