FIXED!
The problem was solved after I emailed support, this was the suggested
fix and it worked -
It sounds like you may be running into a version conflict between your
old and new Slimservers.
Try the following:
* Uninstall Slimserver from the Add/Remove Programs box in Control
Panels
*
Using 6.2.2 and F/W 48 my SB3 constantly seems to drop off, the music
stops and the display goes blank. When I try to wake it up it says
waking up slimserver but often doesnt connect. Sometimes if I ping
the SB3 from the slimserver it all wakes up and works again at the
first ping, but often
It seems that if I use any fimrware after 28 I see this problem! SB2
plays one song then the display just freezes, can't do anything using
remote (other than turn it off) or via web interface.

Another thing I've just noticed since going back to FW 28 is that when
I turn off the SB2 the date/time is no longer displayed just a blank
screen! I'm still using the 6.2.2 software which seems to working fine.

Does it say the same thing in the web interface? I had that happen to
me once in a while with firmware 28 - that a setting would have to be
set both in the player and the web

defaults to 0 (i.e. dark) which confuses people who think the SB is
off.
Try hitting brightness a couple of times on the remote. If that does
the job, go into player settings and change it to 1/2/3/4.
I seem to recall when
