I buy a lot off stuff from Amazon, they are not the cheapest but they
have what i want and deliver. I was on MusicBlvd wich was bought by
CDNOW, later Amazon stepped in and took over that.
A very good advice is to check between amazon.com amazon.co.uk .
As i live in Europe some CD's that are
Although Amazon's prices are usually competitive, I don't think it's at
all uncommon for them to inflate the list price to make it seem like
they're giving more of a discount than they actually are. Here's
another example I've noticed from a completely different product
category, the Capresso

Of course, there's an SB4 under way. OTOH the SliMP3 I bought in 2002

I love Amazon !! I always watch if it's amazon direct or thirdparty
though. If thirdparty I deal with it on a case by case basis. But if
Amazon direct is even close on price I get it from Amazon direct. The
reason is their return policy is fantasic. You just go on their web
site, say you want to
I have bought tons of stuff from Amazon and never had any problems or
issues with anything... I find them to be decent and always sorting
things out if there should be a problem with anything.
I seriously don't believe Amazon would do such a thing on purpose,
because we consumers are too smart.

It looks like it's just a typo - as of right now, they have one
advertised at $399 and 10 at $299.

Thanks for the posts. Let's say it's NOT a typo.
If anyone wants to know how Amazon works with products also submitted
by third-party you can ask me to post or PM.
In short, many don't know Amazon depends on OVER 30% of their revenue
coming from third-party vendors that essentially act as
I agree sales typically are meant to do just that. But why don't we see
a promo on slimdevices.com?
Are they purposely not selling at a discount themselves to appease the
retail channel that is maybe struggling with the product?
Keep in mind most of us here are power users and there was
Geesh you have a depressing world view... why on earth do you go on
about imminent doom and despair when a vendor prices something high,
then the same doom and despair when another vendor has it on sale?
In short, many don't understand promotions. Slim calls up Fry's and
says, hey you're
Hi,
Just curious what the community thinks about this. It's misleading is
it not?
It's 31% off a false List Price of $399 for $274.50.
As a long-time user, contributor and supporter since the original
Squeezebox seeing things like this is upsetting. This community was
built on good faith.
On the other hand, the original price that Amazon have on file could be
be a mistake.
Out of the millions of products they have online, someone in data entry
pressing a 3 instead of a 2 isn't that unlikely.
