Just a word of caution re: SyncToy - there's a clue from the name. It is
just a free tool provided by MS and support is not guaranteed.
I trialled it and found that it had a 255 character path+file length
limit (which is quite easy to hit with a typical music library folder
scheme).

Thank you for all your replies. Squeezeplug now controlling all my
squeezebox needs. I downloaded Allway Sync, which now automatically
detects any new music files, and copies them over the network to the
external hdd attached to the plug. Still got to manually rescan for new
music on the server

2 Duets - 1 for upstairs and 1 for downstairs
+2 for Synctoy 2.1. I have set it up with the task scheduler to
automatically copy the files over in the evening and such. I've also
used (and paid for) Allway Sync, but prefer Synctoy for its simplicity
(setting up rules in Allway Sync can be a pain). Best of all, Synctoy
is free.

Interesting replies! Looks like first step is to install Samba on the
Sheevaplug, then check out your various suggestions for software.
Thanks,

Hi folks,
I recently got myself a Sheevaplug, and am currently using that

With that in mind, is anyone aware of a Windows (7) program that I can

Have a look at http://allwaysync.com/
If you can get the file permissions right then it works fine.

Try Allway Sync if you have a Win7 machine - works a treat. Saves
having to remember what you may have changed on the original database.

Perhaps I am confused?
What has Win7? The SheevaPlug or another PC, a DeskTop?
Anyways... If the sheevaplug has UBUNTU or soem other flavour of LINUX,
then you will need SAMBA so that the music folder can be shared over the
LAN. You can then 'map the folder' as a Drive on the windows machine.
Goodsync its not free but not expensive and is absolutely rock solid.
You can set it up to run in idle time in the background when you arent
logged on. etc Its the only program I've found that I trust enough for
the job. Once setup, forget about it and it just does its thing and
will send you
