I tried the tip from alex_london, and its a brilliant solution! Some
comments:
- sometimes Safari doesnt start the playback, then I just click Done
and try again
- you need to have lame installed on the server
- you might need to adjust player (i.e. for the iPod) Audio settings in

I just bought the Squeeze Mobile app and it seems to work for me mostly
as it should. No problems with flac or anything. Several crashes.
Switching tracks often crashes it.
One oddity/annoyance is that when I restart the app I have to select
the SqueezeMobile player each time. Seems like it

For VPN I've got a DLINK DIR-330 it does IPSEC and PPTP and both work
great WIFI/3G. I picked it up dirt cheap $50 off Ebay. The VPN server
is built in no extra parts needed. VPN is definitely for advanced
users.
As for the security of SC that's not entirely unknown for starters it's

The holy grail for me in this realm would be the ability to download
music from Squeezecenter entirely bypassing the need for it*nes.
If the streaming functionality exists this should be doable. I'm
unclear if the ipod can recognize/update the database on its own without
syncing.

It's technically possible but not quiet sure I'd want to go down that
road. One it duplicates functionality which Apple doesn't seem to be too
keen on. Second whoever develops that then has to manage a totally
seperate sandboxed audio library on the device itself. Keeping the

receiver only leaving the control to another device i.e. the Ipeng or
another remote? I would personally prefer the player bit to be as
invisible and thin as possible. Btw. I couldtt find the app in the
app-store - any release

I use Simplify Media to stream my itunes library remotely. It works
wonderfully and it's free. I'm fairly sure they make an iphone client.
It's not Squeezecenter, but it is a great way to get your music anywhere
if you use itunes.

Safari opened Quicktime and this was visible as a player from both
iPeng on the same phone and my Controller. Both indicated the player was
off and I couldn't control it into life. The

Hi - Is there any plan to have application to transform an iPod / iPhone
transformed into a receiver ? I've read that porting Squeezeplay would
be rather difficult, but what I had more in mind what a simple solution
like SqueezeSlave. My use case is that I'd love to use some of my iPod
portable
