Ive been having some probs with playback on an audiobook. Its a single
400 MB file that plays fine on multiple other players (iTunes, Winamp,
WMP) but always stops about 6-7 mins in. On top of that, the ID3 tag is

You can use a tool called Foober2000, which can add replaygain tags to
your music. replaygain tags track the difference of each track from a
normalised volume, and also a second value against the normalised album
volume level.

My audio installer told me that there is a remote display device from SS
that works with SB3 so that I can keep my SB3 in my main listening room
and see what is playing on the satellite device in another room. Is
that true, and if so, where can I get one? I haven't seen or heard of
this anywhere.

Turns out that the problem is probably in the implementation of perl
used by SlimTray. Slim can't do anything to fix that bug, so I would
recommend not running SlimTray if you plan on leaving your machine
running without rebooting for more than a day or so.

I was a little too harsh in my description of the progress bar's
usefulness. Sorry.
I've now tried the Touch skin, and I still never see the progress bar
filling more than about 75%. And I'm still seeing the counter include
the time paused (after unpausing).
Maybe its just me!

300GB HD which I have approx. 700 CDs ripped. From time to time, it
stops reading in middle of a song &/or it will not skip to the next

I have slimeserver 6.2.2 runing with a suse 10.0 Linux machine...Until
now, I was runnint this agains to squeezebox soft emulators...Today I
have just received a "real" squeezebox hardware v3...
Is roth to upgrade from 6.2.2 to 6.5.1? What are the differences?

Hrrm... you may want to look at the Server Health page and see if
bandwidth is being a problem.
If your NAS is wirelessly connected, that could point to wireless
problems. Can you wire it to your router?
Should take 30 seconds and eliminate that as the resource that is
having problems.

AFAICT it's all you need. Just download the zipped file, unzip it - it
has just one file "mplayer" and then install mplayer in the right
folder probably /usr/local/bin with the correct permissions and
ownership.

worse, since the whole music file has to make it's way from the NAS
drive to the PC wirelessly at some point anyway. I just didn't know
where the bottle-neck was. But as I said it was streaming the music OK.

Slow performance is going to be caused by some "resource" running low.
Memory, CPU, Bandwidth, I/O speed, etc. It is possible in software to

According to icecast.org, FLAC is supported by icecast 2.3.1.

I'm running SlimServer 6.5.1 on a QNAP TS-101 NAS drive. There's only a
small music library at present, but still performance is sluggish - it
streams music OK it's just slow to respond to instructions (from the
remote, the web interface and via CLI commands).

Let me start by saying that I'm 100% open to anyone suggesting fixes for

stretch to call the progress bar meaningless, but it's so far from
perfect I've toyed with removing it altogether.
The gory technical details of the progress
I was wondering if it's possible to have the playlist view automatically
scroll to show the currently playing track. When using Random Mix, the
current track is usually off the bottom of the window.
Also (and this may be due to the fact that I'm not actually using a
Nokia 770), pressing PageDown
Some tracks in Random Mix aren't being displayed properly:
- In the Nokia770 skin, the track name is missing from the "Now
Playing" screen, and clicking the track in the playlist produces a page
with no track information. The track names DO appear on the right,
