I'm not sure how the scan for new and changed files works, but your
explanation sounds reasonable.
Be careful with touching the files.
If they have new timestamps they also show up right at the top in the
new music view.
A complete rescan might be the best solution.

Depends how recent your beta release of SC7 is. If anytime in the last
month or so, it should be fine (I've just upgraded one unit with an
early Feb beta and this worked fine). If much earlier, might be safer

2) Install Softsqueeze on the PC MCE and point it at Squeezecenter

I couldn't wait any longer...so I downloaded the beta version last
Friday (2/29). I see that the official Squeezecenter 7.0 was released
today.
Can I simply update to the official 7.0 or do I need to do a complete
re-install?

SB via wifi for several years already (eg, PDA, computer, Nokia tablet,
wifi enabled cell phones, etc.). All of those use the
slimserver/SqueezeCenter web interface, whereas the new controller
(SBC) has its own purpose-built

where can I find SoftSqueeze? If I understand it correctly, SoftSqueeze
is like a mediaplayer and if that works good I could replace it with an

compatible) and it works great! It's connect to my SB3 via 'G' and to
my MBPro via 'N'.
Do you see the SB3 grab an IP address? Are you using DHCP or static?

should be okay. I use a laptop in the garden and that works okay.
BTW: tested the squeezecenter and softsqueeze software and it works.

Unexpected results following the rescan though!
Even though tracks are tagged with same 'album' tag they still show up
as seperate albums in Slimserver. It seems it splits them up if they
are in different sub-folders - which most of them are.
I was hoping for just one folder of non-album tracks

I have a problem with streaming dabbar to any of my squeezeboxes, I have
changed port numbers ip addresses etc. from the dabbar page I can play
radio 1 on my asus eee, winamp, nokia n700, but not on slim centre,
6.5.5 works fine, 7 doesnt. I did post in the beta forum. But I

Installation is same as for earlier versions. That is, the downloaded
item is a .dmg . Double-click on it (it is a disk image) and run the
installer.
It's very different from the old SlimServer in its design. Most plugins
for 6.x won't work on 7, but many of them have new versions for 7.

Wish I hadn't.
After installing squeezenetwork I cannot view the squeezecenter on my
PC at all. I only get 'page cannot be viewed' error messages. Cannot do
anything with the server.
Tried uninstalling and reverting with system restore.
What do you mean when you say installing squeezenetwork?
SqueezeNetwork is a server on the web not an app.
