[slim] Multiroom squeezebox audio system - input wanted
I am a happy squeezebox user since many years. I am running the LMS on my server, a wireless SB receiver in my bedroom and on my mediacenter the squeezeplay application. We are moving to a new home where we will have two in-ceiling loudspeakers, which I'd like to serve form the LMS - in addition to the above. As Logitech does not provide the receivers anymore, I am wondering how to accomplish this. Do you have some input here? asuming you speakers and amp in the bedroom , get a Touch there move the reciever to drive the amp that feeds the built in speakers . as Touch has a display it can be a clock or display cover art etc, so it's best used in a visible location . It can be controlled by the controller or any app and web-UI just like the reciever . With the added benefit of the Touch being a controller to for the other players if you want. Hi, I have the same problem with another hardware : Iomega Iconnect. I notice that sound crackles a lot when using alsa (my USB DAC is an E-MU 0204), but when I use Pulseaudio, sound is great. It's a bug in the sheeva kernel
The kirkwood arm cpu doesn't handle Memory Mapped pcm devices.
Version 4.0+ of 'squeezeplug' (http://squeezeplug.eu) has a kernel with

I just installed the app on the branf new galaxy and unfortunatly i can confirm that it's not working. I used the 15 minute grace period and then uninstalled so i'm unable to reproduce the error. Discovery of the server seemed to work but it connecyed to the servername, which is unknown on the internet. No problem i thought, just enter the address manually and connect. But no the player did not show in the list of players. On the squeezeplayer page i saw a wifi error. Hi, Ty for this explanation, but I don't use squeezeplug on Iconnect but arch linux. I try to understand what you describe and I think the actual problem is not really there, because some USB audio device can support mmap, so I think, the solution should be to use a specific driver for my sound card with mmap support disabled. But I continue to look for a solution and I see this post : http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/alsa-or-oss-sampling-rate-change-439281/ I change in /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf the default rate for dmix : it was 48000 ans I put 44100, and restart alsa /etc/rc.d/alsa force-restart The sound is good now, maybe not excellent but really better. I don't understand why this parameter was so important for my configuration, because I thought , I didn't use dmix pcm, and I did a lot of try in /etc/asound.cfg to change the rate without success. I would be interested to understand if someone can help me again. On my arm device (Iomega Iconnect), I have trouble with my USB audio card (E-MU 0204) when I don't use Pulseaudio. I think the available version of squeezeslave for arm device is compiled without support for Pulseaudio. I'm going to compile a new one with this support, but I m not a good programmer, and I feel not comfortable with Linux. Can someone help me ? maybe a version of squeezeslave supporting Pulseaudio is already available somewhere, and I could simply donwload it ? Is there a way to update squeezecommander to work on googletv? They're putting out the Market update today, so I can get android apps from the market place... I don't need any changes made to the software, just something that says allowed on google tv so it'll show up in the market. I can always refund you manually later on, if we don't get it to work, so don't worry about 15min grace periods or the like. In the meantime I had a look at the iTunes COM interface, and can safely say that it is pre- Jurassic; (it looks like it has not been touched since decades); and to be specific it does support COM commands to the player, but only to the default local player on the PC where iTunes is itself running; but it does not have an interface for enumerating remote players (such as Airport players) and thus nor does it have an interface for controlling those players. Why anyone would want to use iTunes' crappy interface is beyond me. I'm not going to use album-flow to flip through thousands of albums. Nvts. LMS' use of the dynamic playlist is a major feature in my book. I don't want everything to be a playlist and I really appreciate the Additional Playlist Buttons. Is that function (play next, eg.) in iTunes? I'm not being facetious: I really would like to do that when confronted with iT at my friends' houses. For example, something is playing in iT, how do you cue the next song without going there right now? The only thing I would like to see in the LMS interface would be a fuzzy option. For example, I love being able to click Neil Young to see it all but it would be tons better if clicking on Neil Young would also show Neil Young and Crazyhorse.) As a developer, I would then write a contains maintenance DB that would then populate ALBUMARTIST. The vast majority of the tunes were ripped to m4a with iT. It was easy to use a few machines at home to feed and spit. For the most part, I'm stuck with iT id's and would rather not consider myself OC by fixing all of that. I've been a Squeezebox fan since I bought my first SB1, and I used the Slimserver interface for years before I ever looked at iTunes. When I bought an iPhone a couple of years ago and started trying to use iTunes to manage music for it, I couldn't understand why the interface was so useless, and I still don't. Why would I *always* want to play an entire album if I selected just one track? And really, why would I *always want to play the same songs in the same sequence from a static playlist? I see lots of iTunes users have asked similar questions, year after year, with no answers.
