How much longer does the group think Mysqueezebox.com last? I've had my
SB3 since just after they were introduced.I don't run the Media
Server all the time, and I frequently connect directly to the internet
via Mysqueezebox.com.I've looked at what's on the market right now

I'm interested in adding an SB3 to my upstairs music system. Can
Squeezecenter work with multiple players? Is it possible to play
different music on each Squeezebox? Thanks for your help.

Well, I tried downloading the latest 'nightly' - 6.5_v2007-4-26. I
extracted the contents to a desktop file. However, there doesn't
appear to be an installer, or an appropriate .exe file to run Slim
Server. Do I simply copy this to my existing 6.5.1 and overwrite where
prompted?

reconfigured the Slimserver exception in Windows Firewall to 9100
from 9000, and now Slim Server can play files.
The last problem is the browser interface - If I click on your link
above, I can access SlimServer. How do I make that permanent in my
settings?

It would be nice, though, if the default skin looked better in Firefox.
That could cause problems for new owners of SB3.
The previous version of Slimserver defaulted to pretty much the same
appearance in Mozilla/Firefox that it did in Internet Explorer.

3500 with 1 Gb of RAM. I'm amazed at how much
quicker Slimserver responds to remote control requests from the SB3
now. No problems, no glitches, just pure listening enjoyment.

Ok, sorry for playing the 'drama queen'. I found the interface setting,
changed the interface from default, now the GUI in Firefox looks good!
Did the old Slimserver have selectable skins like that? I've been
using over a year, and never stumbled across it, if so! LOL

Let's be fair to Sean, Slim, and Logitech. It seems premature to
complain at this stage. Clarion's aquisition of McIntosh didn't wreck

heading in the right direction to solve a couple of those mysterious
user-issues like White Noise of Death.

settings screen, you can select/deselect automatic IP
assignment. I think you should manually enable an IP on your
router/switch (via the router/switch GUI) and then manually set the
SB3's ip to that value. See if that helps.

audio forums for over two years now, and I've NEVER
heard of a piece of source equipment spontaneously 'powering on' and
issuing forth potentially speaker-destroying distortion. This is a
serious problem, and it's clear it's not an isolated incident involving
one or two players.

stations play normally. I tried doing a complete restart of the player
- disconnected from AC and plugged back in, and it's still skipping.
Anyone else having this problem on Squeezenetwork?

Actually, I found the solution. I unplugged my Linksys wireless router
and plugged it back in.I guess the router had some sort of
electronic brain fart that a reboot fixed. Problem solved.

Yep, I WAS listening to Squeezenetwork. Guess I'm still in the dark as
to how the device is wired - I wouldn't think a remote network issue
would affect internal functions like the volume control.

For comparison, I've been using Winamp since 1998, and never ONCE has
Winamp failed to play an uncorrupted file of any type. Yet this is a
frequent, recurring problem with the Slimserver software.

in iTunes advanced options for importing, I
UN-checked the option Create Filenames with Track Number.
That worked - now all the tracks in the affected albums are available.
Unfortunately, the album tracks for that album are not in sequence -
I'm not sure how to fix THAT problem. Sigh!

the same location in My Music Once AGAIN, Slimserver will not play 8
of the 9 tracks.
Yet AIFF is supposed to be one of the supported file types? There
seems to be a serious issue with the Slimserver software.

opened up the Shoutcast directory, picked a random station, and it's
playing as I type this.
Perhaps it was a temporary situation?

Thanks for all the kind advice. I sent an e-mail off to the Stereo Shop
asking about upgrading to Squeezbox 2 or 3.
And yes, it IS version 1. When I try to access some of the
screensavers, the screen displays Must have Squeezbosx 2 to use or
something to that effect.
