My beloved Squeezebox 3 has for some time been playing up. I wonder if
anyone has any similar experience and would know if a fix is possible?
Whilst playing music from my local LMS 7.9 server, the SB3 occasionally

(add to) a previously saved playlist using the web UI. Is this true?

Actually, the track stat plugin stores the last played time for each track. It
should be possible to create a SQL playlist to play the last n tracks played
(via the SQL Playlist plugin).
The only problem is it isn't a complete history, as it only records the last
played time of each track.
I still haven't heard anything from support.
I have tried moving the unit closer to my wireless access point. I can see a
stable 80% signal strength at the setup menus, but when I connect, I see the
signal strength visibly drop 30% and then it seems to wonder up and down. I
have taken stats

signal strength is not especially reliable. i.e. fluctuations aren't
too bad.

This morning my SBG and SB2 were unresponsive - the time on the SB2 was static.
I went to the server machine and I could see that I had a Windows Data
Execution Prevention message for Lame. This must have been blocking the
SlimServer code in such a way that the squeezeboxes didn't report
