I think the larger issue with old, "real" Squeezeboxes is they don't support WPA2-AES encryption, only WPA2-TKIP which is considered not secure any more. I've had good luck connecting old Squeezeboxes (Classic, Boom) to a WPA2-AES mesh WiFi network (WiFi 5, -not- WiFi 6) with 'Vonets VAR11N-300 adapters' (http://www.vonets.com/ProductViews.asp?D_ID=17). owner of the stuff at https://tuxreborn.netlify.app/ (which used to reside at *www. tux.org/~peterw/*) Note: The best way to reach me is email or PM, as I don't spend much time on the forums. *Free plugins:* AllQuiet Auto Dim/AutoDisplay BlankSaver ContextMenu DenonSerial FuzzyTime KidsPlay KitchenTimer PlayLog PowerCenter/BottleRocket SaverSwitcher SettingsManager SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=116158 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

A few things if you're using my SqueeezeCLIHandler: * you want to use *squeezeexec:* to execute a script (squeezecli: is just for executing LMS CLI commands, intended to be useful in playlists but maybe not, as last time I checked the playlist scanner effectively skipped squeezecli: URLs) * you probably need to give the full path to "script.sh" unless it's in a directory (like /usr/local/bin?) that's already in the PATH of the LMS process * set the SqueeezeCLIHandler log level to Warn or Debug and view the server log if you still have trouble (the plugin defaults to Error, which isn't verbose enough to help much for configuration problems) * I assume you're trying to pass the single command line argument "stop" to your "script.sh", right? * depending on where that URL is going the "&" might not need to be escaped owner of the stuff at https://tuxreborn.netlify.app/ (which used to reside at *www. tux.org/~peterw/*) Note: The best way to reach me is email or PM, as I don't spend much time on the forums. *Free plugins:* AllQuiet Auto Dim/AutoDisplay BlankSaver ContextMenu DenonSerial FuzzyTime KidsPlay KitchenTimer PlayLog PowerCenter/BottleRocket SaverSwitcher SettingsManager SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78259 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] LMS Plugin Development
Oh, more thoughts about the CLI -- Squeezebox player settings like power on/off, mute/unmute, and volume are handled as client "pref" preference values. You could simply connect to LMS and "subscribe" to the preferences you care about ("volume", "mute", "power") and issue commands to the Meridian in response to those changes: e.g., when see the player's "mute" pref change to "1", tell the Meridian to "Mute". And if you see a change initiated on the Meridian side, just issue the corresponding LMS CLI command -- you see Meridian "Demute", just issue CLI command "mixer muting 0". owner of the stuff at https://tuxreborn.netlify.app/ (which used to reside at www.tux.org/~peterw/) Note: The best way to reach me is email or PM, as I don't spend much time on the forums. *Free plugins:* AllQuiet Auto Dim/AutoDisplay BlankSaver ContextMenu DenonSerial FuzzyTime KidsPlay KitchenTimer PlayLog PowerCenter/BottleRocket SaverSwitcher SettingsManager SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114585 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] LMS Plugin Development
+1 on Paul's suggestion. I'm curious - do you have protocol specs? Is it this? https://www.meridian-audio.com/media/11318/meridian-automation-interface-for-ip-control-issue-4.pdf If so, I think the existing Denon plugins should definitely help. One option might be using DenonSerial in "Remote system" mode, and writing external software that would connect to the LMS command line interface and subscribe to "denonserial" commands. DenonSerial would then send notifications for the Denon TCP commands it would send (e.g. MUON for muting output) and you'd just need to translate that to the equivalent Meridian command. To keep LMS in sync with the Meridian you'd issue CLI commands mimicking a Denon, e.g. if your tool saw the speakers were "Demute" then you'd send a denonserial CLI command with MUOFF. I do plan to update my DenonSerial (which, despite the name, supports not only RS232 but also Denon's TCP protocol) to support Yamaha's YNCA TCP protocol, but I have been dragging my feet on that. When I get around to it, that will mean abstracting the general commands (power on, power off, mute, unmute, set volume to X, query for current power/volume/mute/source status), and should make it much easier to support other brands' protocols. But did I mention I've been dragging my feet? owner of the stuff at https://tuxreborn.netlify.app/ (which used to reside at www.tux.org/~peterw/) Note: The best way to reach me is email or PM, as I don't spend much time on the forums. *Free plugins:* AllQuiet Auto Dim/AutoDisplay BlankSaver ContextMenu DenonSerial FuzzyTime KidsPlay KitchenTimer PlayLog PowerCenter/BottleRocket SaverSwitcher SettingsManager SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114585 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I think you probably need a URL like squeezeexec:secret=123456789012=/usr/bin/eject or maybe just squeezeexec:secret=123456789012=eject -- including the required "secret" argument as mentioned in 'this post' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?78259-Playlist-quot-Macro-quot-URL-Commands-Maybe-Kidsplay=543452=1#post543452) and ideally setting "p0" to the full path of the eject command. I haven't used squeezexec: in a very long time, but I would expect you could use the LMS web "Tune in URL" to test the squeezeexec: URL. As OPML is XML, you'd encode a URL like "squeezeexec:secret=123456789012=/usr/bin/eject" as "squeezeexec:secret=123456789012**p0=/usr/bin/eject". Another thing: historically Linux distributions have used a group like "cdrom" to limit who can use the CD/DVD drive. You might need to permanently add the Unix user that LMS runs as to that group so that it can eject the optical disk -- just running the eject command won't be enough if the LMS user lacks sufficient privileges. And the scanner bug I mentioned in 'this post' (https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?78259-Playlist-quot-Macro-quot-URL-Commands-Maybe-Kidsplay=544174=1#post544174) might still cause problems. I have found them to be very durable -- models like 'the URC-8820' (http://www.remotecentral.com/ureview/114.htm) that I've been using, anyway. It takes years for the button text to start to wear off, and even then the buttons keep working. I own one URC that still works fine even though it got mangled by a foster dog who mistook it for a chew toy. I agree, the JP1 community still seems healthy. Just a few months ago I needed to reporgram my main URC for a new DVD player. I dreaded the prospect of having to reinstall and relearn the RemoteMaster and IR applications, but found that the desktop repogramming software had been improved and simplified. My old .ir remote config backups worked fine and reprogramming was easier than before. BTW, web searches in decent years revealed that apparently many US cable TV companies are offering customers remote controls that are JP1-capable, and those often sell for little on eBay. We gave a Harmony to my aged father-in-law (first a 650, now a 655), as it's much easier to use than the mess of remotes he ended up with after the cable TV box was added to his kit even after the cable guy programmed their universal remote. I love the "try to fix" option, and the ability to switch the color screen soft buttons to "device" mode. So much nicer than trying to remember where you remapped a specific orginal button like Night Mode. Those Harmony remotes haven't held up as well -- after a couple years some of the buttons become unreliable. I had the same problem with my personal Harmony remotes --even ones that saw infrequent use!-- and always thought that Harmony would be truly great if they could improve their hardware. (They reminded me a lot of 20th century Sony gear -- good design, nice programming, but inadequate quality on the switches and buttons.) Still, yesterday I ordered a spare 655 as a backup for my father-in-law. Thank you, Tony T, for posting! Most of my devices are SB2/SB3 and I use a version of SuperDateTime that I've customized to use FuzzyTime APIs to move everything around (even less often -- only moves the bitmaps when it refreshes the weather data). SDT makes it even harder to figure out the max shift as it has separately positioned text and bitmapped icons -- so making FT's screensaver max shift logic better wouldn't help my usage, and might actually complicate the APIs used by my custom SDT. But FT is licensed under the GPL, so anyone who'd like to is welcome to take the code tweak it. That would probably be my first order of business if I start looking at the source code. Sorry to hear that. For years I monitored eBay and Craigslist in hopes of scoring a Slimp3 -- it, the Transporter(s), and the original, non-bitmapped Squeezebox (and the new UE-branded SB Radio) are the only Squeezebox/Slim devices I have never owned. How do I determine what button on the Onkyo remote is connected to which Hex code so that I can do this? I don't remember which option it is, but one of the Logging options for Squeezebox Server (SBS) will tell you what codes the SB3 sees reports to SBS. From there you can make custom .ir files (or edit the existing ones) to map those codes to regular button names in the .map files. Note there are some IR codes that SB3 does not recognize at all. For instance, my SB3 passes along info about my non-JVC DVD player's codes as unknown IR, but not the codes for my AV receiver. Re: [slim] Automatically Powering Down a Dumb Amplifier
If you don't want to solder and run Squeezebox Server locally (vs. using MySqueezbox.com), check out my PowerCenter plugin. If by energy saving plug you mean a fancy power strip that shuts off power to some outlets when the appliance plugged into the trigger outlet is turned off, that almost certainly won't work. Usually I get buyers remorse about now, but not this time... Well, there have been some stories about Google withholding the final 3.0 source for a while. Some stories suggest they might start holding back releases (release N.M source only after releasing N.(M+1) privately to licensees, e.g. no public Honeycomb 3.0 source until Ice Cream 3.1 is out), while others suggest it's a one-time delay, as they add code to Honeycomb to make it work well on phone-sized devices. Either way, it looks like we users of non-Xoom tabs might have to choose between Gingerbread and a (buggy? insecure?) preview of Honeycomb. Since I have seen signs that Google, much like Slim Devices / Logitech, actually wants code contributions from the community, so I think it's most likely a one-time holdback; there wouldn't be much sense in accepting patches for old code. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86531 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] RFE: Add option for saving sleep time and randomize playlist with favorites
I'm *soo* close to being able to offer you that. A while back I worked on a plugin that adds two new protocols for Squeezebox. One is for executing CLI commands like sleep 900 (900 = 15 minutes). Another is for executing commands on the machine running Squeezebox Server. The idea is that these become tracks that you can add to playlists. So you could have a playlist like squeezecli: p0=sleepp1=5400 http: //somestreamingstation.com/foo.mp3 that would start the sleep timer before opening the lullaby stream. The randomized favorite might be trickier. You might need two playlists, with the randomized playlist looking like the following (spaces added after the colon to appease the forum software) squeezecli: p0=playlistp1=shufflep2=2 squeezecli: p0=playlistp1=clear squeezecli: p0=playlistp1=addp2=/path/to/playlist squeezecli: p0=playlistp1=shufflep2=0 squeezecli: p0=playlistp1=play to force a new reshuffling of your playlist and revert to non-shuffled behavior right afterwards. But there's something a little messed up in my code I haven't had time to track down; the effect is that the squeezecli command executes but SBS never moves to the next track. My hope was to fix that and then make a nice web UI to simplify adding squeezecli: tracks to playlists. Re: [slim] UPS recommendations for my Vortexbox Appliance
JJZolx;566445 Wrote: Well, like I said, the only way to really guarantee that the system will be shut down safely is to have a UPS that communicates with the server and make sure you have it set to shut down before the battery runs out. I don't know enough about Linux, and even less about the Vortexbox, to say whether or not its easy to do with, say, a typical APC UPS. Ask the Vortexbox people. I use the Ubuntu 'apcupsd' package with an APC Smart UPS (their cheapest model that is supposed to output nice, non-square AC waves). I think mine came with a USB cable, but I opted to use the 9-pin serial cable since my server had a free serial port. In addition to clean shutdowns based on realistic runtime calculations by the UPS, one thing I really like is that apcupsd emails me when the power goes out or comes back on. My broadband modem and AP are also on a UPS, so I pretty reliably get emails/texts when there's a power problem. Since my house relies on a sump pump to keep the basement dry, this is a big relief. I also like that the Smart UPS handles under- and over-voltage events. I've been pretty loyal to APC ever since I had a great customer service experience with them in the late 1990s, but next time I'll probably shop around, as I've had some bad experiences with APC units' reliability lately both at home (the unit that preceded my Smart UPS) and work (some nicer rackmount units) -- though most of the APC units, including one I've owned more than a decade, work fine. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80889 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I wish I knew. I think some cloud-based service for note-taking could be nice. Imagine someone mentions a band or album online. Maybe it's in a blog, a tweet, a web review. Maybe you're at a friend's house, using your netbook or smartphone. It'd be great if you could just copy a phrase and paste it into some website that somehow tied into SBS. erland;563540 Wrote: Then we should try to get Logitech to correct so it reliably and fast gets an address from the DHCP server instead of forcing users to use static IP's when they shouldn't have to. ... If it takes minutes to get an IP from a DHCP server something is seriously wrong. And devices like an iPhone (or Controller?) that request/renew leases frequently suffer the most. DHCP bugs can be tough to track down (even folks who know what they're doing are often hampered by limitations like wireless adapters that don't allow promiscuous mode and can't capture packets with wireshark), so making it easier to switch to static IP sounds like a relatively simple workaround for Logitech. Also, who wants to wait for a bug fix? Both my Controllers (using older versions of SBS) were unreliable until I gave one a static IP. Newer Controller firmwares are said to have some DHCP fixes, but I didn't want to wait for a proper fix since a static address was good enough. Using a static IP means less code running on the Squeezebox, which can only help. And what happens if Logitech decides the DHCP server embedded in a wifi access point is at fault? Logitech can't fix that, but static IP would be a good workaround. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80577 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Is a LAN-local podcast possible?
Try adding #slim:noscan=1 to the URLs that MySB can't reach. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/719205.html I expect you may need to put your RSS up on a public server so it has a clean URL but uses #slim:noscan=1 for each of the actual audio file URLs. MySB probably needs to access the RSS, but it shouldn't complain about the local URLs if you use that # fragment trick. Just curious: what do your internal URLs look like? IPs or hostnames? If hostnames, do they have public DNS? Andy, who pretty much runs MySB as far as I can tell, has suggested that MySB might detect unreachable URLs and do the noscan fragment thing automatically, but I suspect that might work more reliably for simple internal streaming services and not podcast RSS. http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13606 -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79797 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Btw, there was an enhancement request to allow SB3 to display a clock when SBS was down (which would work fine so long as the power didn't go out), but Logitech didn't implement that before deciding that there would be no more firmware enhancements to the old players like SB3. :-/ -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79439 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

This suggests that the media kit doesn't mention them. Logitechsqueezebox.com linked to info about using and building extensions, and now it's gone. You could ask Logitech to add the option not to fade out at the end of a sleep timer (or something like that), or you could look at writing software to do it (patching the Squeezebox Server code is most likely to have good results). -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79067 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Logitech Google TV
mortslim;549401 Wrote: Logitech is now betting the farm on Google TV because of the potential market being vastly bigger than that for the audio only kind of market, everything may be rewritten for the android ecosystem. That's not obvious to me at all. It's a new market for Logitech, and they'll stay in as long as it's profitable. They'll keep making Squeezeboxes as long as they make money off Squeezeboxes (and think they wouldn't make more money diverting staff/resources to Android/Google TV). I looked at some of the Google TV info -- Google's PR, Logitech's, Google's developer info. I'm not impressed. Windows Media Center and Linux/MythTV have offered the core Google TV features for years. The Google developer info is sloppy. It looks like a dull category, and the free licensing model of Android means it's likely to be a commodity market (unlike the Squeezebox market where Logitech has been able to see the same gear/design for *years* without lowering the prices). I can easily see Google TV flopping just as Apple TV has seemed to. And I can easily see Logitech (and more easily see Sony, whose commitment to other companies' platforms has always been very tentative) pulling out if this turns out not to be a big money maker. But maybe this will be good for Squeezebox. Maybe Logitech will surprise us. Maybe they'll use an Android NDK to add Squeezebox client capabilities to their Google TV devices to differentiate them from other vendors' Google TV boxes, much as Motorola and HTC have added software to their Android phones in hopes of avoiding an Android commodity ghetto. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79007 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I haven't played with WaveInput, so I'm afraid I'm not much help there. :-( -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78259 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Playlist Macro URL Commands - Maybe Kidsplay?
I just hit an ugly bug that threatens this whole commands-in-playlist idea: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=16188 Essentially, the Squeezebox Server scanner does not, and cannot, recognize any protocols other than those that ship with the software. You can build a playlist with custom protocol URLs in the SBS web interface, but if you ask SBS to rescan the library, it will not recognize your (properly registered and 100% playable!) custom URL protocol in the M3U playlist, and if you try playing your playlist, SBS will skip your custom protocol lines. If you're running the Perl version of SBS, you can manually hack the scanner.pl application, adding your protocols to the @handlers array that's declared around line 370. That's the only way I've found so far to make this viable, which means that unless SBS is improved, custom protocols in playlists will only be usable by moderately geeky Linux/Mac users and extremely geeky Windows users. :-( -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78259 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

peterw;543474 Wrote: There's a huge functional flaw in my current code -- neither handler properly tells SBS that it's done. So, as you found in your testing, you get stuck on that playlist entry. Release 0.2 fixes that problem. Note: I have only tested with SBS 7.5 so far. Now my biggest annoyance is that the web UI shows a blank line for these URLs when viewing a playlist. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78259 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Playlist Macro URL Commands - Maybe Kidsplay?
0.3 mostly fixes the UI problems -- the first time SBS asks my protocol handler for metadata on the URL, my plugin registers info with SBS that's used in the various UIs. Along with that, there's a new arg you can put in squeezecli: and squeezeexec: URLs: title. If set, that arg will be the title displayed in the various UIs. For instance, Code: squeezecli:secret=123456789012p0=powerp1=0title=Turn%20player%20off would be labeled Turn player off in the various UIs. If you don't set a title arg, the UI will show a simplified URL (with the secret arg redacted), e.g. for squeezecli:secret=123456789012p0=powerp1=0 you would see the track title squeezecli:p0=powerp1=0. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78259 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
