Today I received a message from Synology support that they acknowledge
this problem. The intend to fix this in their future DSM releases.

be the same for DS207+ and
DS212+.
So still no explanation for the difference in behaviour between DS207+
and DS212+. Please note that the far more powerfull machine is not
behaving as expected.
