I'm not completely sure what your problem is, but I noticed that you
mention music on an USB-drives and it did not work after powering up.

The problem might be that LMS is starting before your USB drive is ready
- so try to set "wait for USB" on the tweaks page to something like 10
sec. If that solves the problem you can try to reduce the wait time.

There is a setting in LMS under the “player”tab where you can select if
it only plays the single trac or the whole album.

*Angelcardm:*”I suppose. But if it's supposed to work by connecting to a

I still Think that attaching a screen in order to debug your issue would
be the first and most simple step to follow. It will give you a lot of
information, and you would know immediately whether pCP is running
correctly or not and will print the correct IP address on the screen.

You have already used a lot of time and are getting nowhere, adding a
screen would really help you in the process.

When you are up and running you don’t need the screen anymore and you
can simply remove it.

Hi.
I Will suggest that you start by adding a computer screen to
yourraspberry.
That will allow you to follow the boot process, and in the end the
correct IP address will be shown also you will be able to see if
piCorePlayer is running correctly.

Hi.
I'm using a headphone plugged directly into the RPi using piCorePlayer.
I think it is doing fine (declaration: I not an audiophile in any way).
The sound has been improved massively compared with the first kernels.
So I suggest that you simply try it, and if it is fine, then you don't
need to look any further. If you need amplification, then the IQaudIO
DAC+ has a headphone amplifier build in.
It is also working fine with piCorePlayer.

Hi.
If you attached it the other way around you will find that it fits
better.
The Cable is now running underneath the card and as a consequence it is
much easier to manipulate the SD-card.
Here I use an IQaudIO DAc which has power PINs out that can be used to
power the screen and on top of the DAC is the raspberry pi.

If you want to try piCorePlayer it really is very simple. Burn the
sd-card with the piCorePlayer image, then boot and you will have a
working solution out of the box.

It is possible to tweak it in various ways, and you can add wifi
adaptor, a dac and a screen. All these additions can be manipulated via
a web browser from another computer. Please visit our web pages where
there is a "how to "

Re: [slim] a 3D printable enclosure for raspi A+ / JiveLite / piCorePlayer ?

With Ralphy building JiveLite for piCorePlayer
 http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?103330-Jivelite-for-piCorePlayerp=811820viewfull=1#post811820,
I was wondering if some would be interested by a 3D printable enclosure
that would integrate an raspi A+, touchscreen and some extra DAC
optionally. I'm not a good CAD designer, but I can do a bit of design. I
was thinking of only using available raspi accessories as I understand
many do not want to do their own HW and I absolutely do not want to sell
 anything custom

So, question: is there an interest for such a project and would some
people here be willing to help for the CAD work either by doing some of
it or proposing design ideas or do people prefer to put a raspi in an
existing headless enclosure and use a remote UI ?

Hi philippe.

I think that would be a great idea.
Maybe include some buttons and a rotary button for adjusting sound
level?

Greg and I have been discussing supporting a display for the
piCorePlayer for some time now. But we have been reluctant because there
are so many different screens so it would be difficult to support them
all. Therefore, we have been following the discussion closely and
waiting for the announcement of the official raspberry display:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63t=64041
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=44t=104630
http://raspi.tv/2014/raspberry-pi-official-7-inch-dsi-prototype-preview

From what can be read the screen could be announced very soon - but then
again the discussion started already in 2013!!!

We have more or less decided to wait for this display. The advantage
would be; It does not connect via HDMI, so the HDMI port is free for
audio-out connection. It will probably be supported very well from the
raspberry foundation, so the drivers are available and last but not
least we would only have to support the official screen.

For your project it probably also will be difficult to make a design
that can fit several displays. So you will have to make a choice on
which screen you are supporting.

Hi.
As you already stated, the raspberry can output I2S-data.

There are two players build on raspberry and Triodes great Squeezelite
player which might fit your needs:

The piCorePlayer - a dedicated squeezebox player that transform the
raspberry to something like a Squeezebox Duet.

or

The SqueezePlug system - which both can act as a player but also a LMS
server.

NB- I don't know if the I2S data is compatible with your Najda board,
but both players support other boards (hifiberry DAC and Digi and ES9023
Cards) and Squeezeplug support the new Wolfson audio card for the
raspberry.

My last suggestions.
The Squeeze Audio Device

14650

Or as requested by Jackof All

The Community Squeeze

14651

I like the name Squeeze Audio Device the best.
This name clearly states what we are talking about, and there is links
back to both companies that made our previous players (SlimDevices and
Logitech Squeezebox)

Re: [slim] Community Squeeze Logo

Thanks to pperse I found the correct fonts for my suggestion, and as he
suggested it might also be better with the original colours.

The thinking behind these logos (and names) are that they resemble the
style from the SlimDevice logo, without being too similar and at the
same time it incorporate the name from the Logitech Squeezebox years.
A Slim Devise is something similar to a Squeezed box and could also
be described as a Squeeze Device

So for the coming 0.5 version of the wandboard player this could be a
logo?

Yes that is what microcore does. It is sort of split into two - the
basis microcore system which is always untouched, and a special
directory (TCE-direcory) where all the customization, scripts extra
programs like ALSA, WiFi etc is saved. Saving to this directory is only
done when you really want to save it like during making of the player,
or during configuration of your player either using a script or possibly
through a web-page like you have developed for the wandboard.
In ordinary use you don't save anything to the sd-card and and
everything is running in RAM. So even if you pull the power cord no
damage to your software is happening.
My experience with the microcore linux has been positive, and I think
that it might be a good candidate for an embedded OS for this community

I will be happy to help, with the knowledge I have gathered during the
work with the piCorePlayer, but I'm in no way an experienced linux user.

If you connect to a server without any connected player, you are asked

change the association for all the players and not only the one you

Re: [slim] Community Funded Squeezebox Replacement - Would you be interested?

2013-02-19 Thread sbp

I have been following this thread with interest. I don't know if you are
familiar with the microcore linux, but maybe you should consider it for
the basis of the new player.
Microcore linux is a small linux (basis is only 8-12 MB), but it is
possible to add the packages that you need. It is so small that it can
be running entirely in RAM, and therefore no writing to the SD-card is
done. You only write to the SD-card when you tell it to do so

In addition, everytime it boots it is a fresh start, and the
extensions and changes are added to the core, so there is no risk of
corruption of the system or the card.

I have build a small squeezelite player with microcore linux for the
raspberry which is only 25 MB in total.
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?97803-piCoPlayer-Squeezelite-on-Microcore-linux-An-embedded-OS-in-RAM-with-Squeezelite

There seems to be ports to other ARMS as well - maybe it is worth
considering?

Hi
I just updated to the new version today (preview 1.4.0 -20130116-1120)-
but now there is a problem:

If you are at the artist page and want to play an album, you often get
the album below the one you want to hear:

If you have a long press on the cover picture - you always get the album
below.
If you have a long press on the Album title - you always get the album
below.
If you press on the triangle (to the right on this screen) - you get the
correct album.

It is working fine in the non-preview version 1.37.

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Orange Squeeze 1.0 for Android Released

2012-11-24 Thread sbp

Hi I have the same problem as Castalla. The newest version worked fine a
few times (I really don't remember if it only worked one time).
But now it wont connect to the server, it seems to be connected, there
is no wheel turning and if I look at the switch server setting it says
it is connected.

Then I killed the new version and started the old version 1.2.9, and
this version is working fine, it connects without problems.

(And all these problems have nothing to do with my previously reported
wifi problems, as the wifi was working fine in the present experiment).

I will send you a logcat file recorded during the above mentioned
experiment. So in the first part of the logcat file, I have started
Orange 1.3.0 (newest version) and tried to connect to my server (called
Voyage) - as it did not connect, I killed orange 1.3.0, and started
1.2.9 wich connected fine to my server Voyage.

Hope you can see something in the logcat file.

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Orange Squeeze 1.0 for Android Released

2012-11-21 Thread sbp

Hi just tried the new version, still the same problem, that Orange does
not restart wifi, if the smartphone was been idle for some time.

It is a Samsung galaxy I9100 with Android 4.0.4. what happens is that
the wifi symbol disapears from top ribbon on the Android - you know the
place where you can se the battery status, 3g status etc. However, when
I pull down the screen from the top, the wifi icon is still green.

If I press the icon (top stop the wifi) and press again to enable it -
the wifi icon re-appear next to the battery indicator and Orange can
find the wifi.

So it seems like Samsung put the wifi into sleep, when left unused for a
long time, and Orange is not able to re-enable the wifi.

Hope this is understandable.

[slim] Possible to maintain internet radio list without Mysqueezebox.com?

2012-09-28 Thread sbp

Hi I was wondering if it would be possible for us to copy/maintain the
list of streaming internet radio stations currently available through
mysqueezebox.com?

Somehow it should be possible, as we can add URLs of radio stations we
wan't to listen to. Also LMS has the opportunity to use OPML lists, so
what are keeping us from building a OPML list with the same or similar
content?
See here: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/OPML_support

Offcourse I know that collecting and maintaining such a list would a
huge task, but maybe we could have a centralized place for these URLs
where members could add new stations and correct errors?
I don't know excactly where the current list of radiostations are keept,
it probably is somewher in the database. So would it be possible to
retreive this lilst as a place to start?

I think there could be two good reasons for this effort:
1. When/if Mysqueezebox.com closes we would already be prepared
2. By using this list we could be independent of Mysqueezebox com, and
vereything could be run from your locally installed LMS (yes I know that
the paid music streaming services still would need mysqueezebox.com),
but it would be a start.

but can you use this service from within LMS or a player without a
mysqueezebox connection?

I think that is what Mysqueezebox.com do, it connects to tunein.com and
selects a subset of the stations and present it to LMS (maybe as a OPML
or play list). So my thinking was maintain a similar list without the
need for mysqueezebox.com.

Please correct me if I have misunderstood how these things are

Re: [slim] SqueezePlay for Windows with ASIO, DirectSound, WASAPI and WDMKS device support.

2012-09-27 Thread sbp

Thank you very much.

It is working fine on windows 7.

I have noticed that you recently have build many different versions of
SqueezePlay, so I was wondering if you are planning to make an ARM build
as well?

The reason for my asking is, that I have bought a Raspberry board, and I
will try to use it as a dedicated player using SqueezePlay. I have
better success with synchronizing if I use SqueezPlay as compared with
SquuezeSlave, because the latter needs to transcode some of my radio
streams to 44100, which is not needed if I use SqueezePlay.
This experience is on windows and Debian computers, I haven't tried on
the Raspberry board yet (mainly because I have been unable to run fin a

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Squeezeslave: 1.2 released

2012-09-19 Thread sbp

Hi Ralphy

Thank you very much for the Squeezeslave, it is working very well for
me, and it even can be synchronised with My Duet and Radio. All my local
music files are playing fine and most of the radio stations. But it
seems like all my Danish Radio stations can't play via Squeezeslave.

Here is the link that I use for one of the stations:
http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s24861formats=aac,ogg,mp3,wmpro,wma,wmvoice,realpartnerId=16serial=d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e
It can be played fine in the Radio and the Duet, but not in
Squeezeslave.

I have tried on two different computers with Squeezeslave installed
(with a Debian linux and the other with TinyCore linux). Squeezeslave is
version: squeezeslave-1.2-311

What can I do?

Hi I have the exact same problem with the new version 1.2.8. Takes very
long time to open, feels sluggish, can't find my server - so it sits on
this window. If I try to manually enter my IP for the server it crashes.
- I have send you my log files.

I also use the official Logitech Android controller on my phone, it
still works OK - so I'm convinced that something is wrong with Orange.

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] Orange Squeeze 1.0 for Android Released

2012-08-02 Thread sbp

Hi

I'm using the latest version1.2.7, on a Samsung i9100 with Android ICS.
I like it very much but have a few problems and suggestions:

1. When the Samsung goes into some kind of power saving mode, I have
difficulties using Orange Squeeze again after waking the phone. I think
the problem is that it somehow won't restart the wifi, so I have to
close Orange Squeeze completely, then start it again, and then it
works.

2 When playing an album I would like to see which number I play - I mean
like in the official Logitech software, it states number 6 out of 11.

Thanks

Re: [slim] Danes - problems with DR- radio stations?

None of the national P1-4 work.

Hi this is exactly what I see.

Also all other radio stations are working, I mean from other countries.

So I think that the Danish radio has changed their links.

How do we fix this?

Re: [slim] Danes - problems with DR- radio stations?

2012-04-06 Thread sbp

I have investigated this a bit more, as it seemed strange that some of
us could connect and others could not.

I looked at this page
http://www.dr.dk/hjaelp/DR%20Netradio/20111020145139.htm
and here I'm able to connect to the windows media streams, whereas the
mp3 and AAC streams are not working. So maybe those than CAN hear the
Danish radio are using the windows media files?

I my settings I can see that ie P1 is using this link;

http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s24860formats=aac,ogg,mp3,wmpro,wma,wmvoice,realpartnerId=16serial=d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e
And this is not working for me.

Those with a working collection of P1, P2 P3 and P4 could you please
copy your URL for the channels?

Regards
Steen

Hi

Now all my Danish Channels are playing again - so something has changed,
probably at the Danish Radio web-pages.

Is the problem also solved for you who had issues before?

[slim] Danes - problems with DR- radio stations?

2012-04-05 Thread sbp

Hi

Suddenly I can't listen to the danish radio stations any more. It
writes something about a 404 error and I haven't touched anything..

I use LMS 7.7.1 and I'm not connected to Mysqueezebox.com.

Am I the only one which have problems with the danish radiostations
(DR)?
And how do I fix it?

Regards
Steen

Just updated my Samsung SII 9100 to Android Ice cream sandwich - and
then the old apk did not function any more.
However, the new one you linked to is fine.

[slim] Grooveshark support

2011-01-02 Thread sbp

Hi

I would like to know if a developer might help in adding support for
grooveshark. I know that many would like to see this supported.

I found this plugin which enable grooveshark support inside
MediaPortal, maybe a developer could have a look and maybe find some
useful information that could be used for adding Grooveshark support to
Squeezebox as well.

Regards

The link to the Mediaportal plugin:
