Fair enough. At least it's on the radar now.

I search the forums every once in a while for answers, but haven't found
anything specific.
I thought maybe it was just me, so it's been driving me a little crazy
for a while now.

Come to think of it, I usually only see the number of 'Deezer Albums'
listed during the scan in the 980's - never over 1000. Same with
Artists. Guess I never thought about that part.

LOL, yes I'm probably who you're thinking of. We also had discussions
regarding your Band's Campout plugin for the same reason.

Deezer has a hard cap of 2000 'favorite' albums using their app/site. I
use this like BandCamp's 'Wishlist'.

Come to think of it, I usually only see the number of 'Deezer Albums'
listed during the scan in the 980's - never over 1000. Same with
Artists. Guess I never thought about that part.

I use the 'New Music' menu 98% of the time as a way of sorting the
albums in a reverse chronological order they were added so I can review
them. These are albums & artists I see discussed in music forums, etc.
This is handy since I probably won't remember the artist or album title
several days later when I get a chance to actually listen to them. When
compelling enough, I'll buy physical or download copies and remove them
from Deezer Favorites/Bandcamp Wishlist

So if during this polling the 'lack of account information' error
occurs, this then triggers the music rescan which causes LMS to remove
any entries provided by Deezer and resets the flag to stop it from
polling Deezer in the future - correct?

Yes, that would happen. We'd have to double check whether "failure to
get account information" is treated the same as "lack of account
information". But I'm sorry, I probably won't have time to check this in
the next few weeks.

From what I see, scans of the online library happen every hour and in my
experience the issue is random.

It does a poll to figure out whether a scan is required every hour. But
the scan itself should only happen if something about your online
library has changed (new albums/playlists/etc. added).

Is there a way to have scanner.log contain multiple days of info, or
does it always only contain the most recent scan?

Unfortunately it's overwritten with every scan run.

Just a guess, but I'm assuming the line with *'Disabling polling for
Slim::Plugin::Deezer::Plugin lack of account information'* is
significant

Indeed! This should only ever happen if LMS checked for the existence of
a Deezer account on MySB, and that request returned successfully, but
empty. That should be logged in scanner.log - unless you run another
scan since. Could you please still double check?

I had a server with LMS on old Win7 (on Lenovo T61) that could suspend
itself after switching off the last player.

With the WakeOnLan function every player could wake up the server.

Daphile can be manually suspended and ofc player is waking it up.

But where or how can I set Daphile to auto suspend? Was anyone looking
for it?

Daphile is a packaged custom OS install + LMS, so it is using Logitech
Media Server as the media server backend.
Every LMS installation has its own internal website which listens on
port 9000 by default, so it can always be reached there.

So for instance if your normal web address for Daphile shows as:

  http://daphile/cgi-bin/AudioPlayer

change it to
http://daphile:9000 or http://daphile:9000/default

This will show LMS's normal 'default' internal website skin which is
named 'default'.
>From here, the skin LMS shows when navigating to :9000 can be changed at
any time using the 'Interface' tab, 'Web Interface' selection.
*NOTE:* This option is hidden if you try to access it via Daphile's
'Advanced Media Server Settings' option - the developer would have to
chime in if changing this setting affects Daphile somehow.

36569

As an FYI, you can navigate to any of the installed skins, at any time,
by adding the name to the end:

Try these:
http://daphile:9000/classicorhttp://daphile:9000/fror even
http://daphile:9000/material/
Lastly, many people using Daphile/LMS use a smart device with an app
installed to actually use the system.
My personal favorites are:
Apple iOS = iPengAndroid = Squeeze Ctrl
Both of these offer a device playback option which turns your smart
device into an LMS playback device!

Sorry for the late reply, removing the LMS plugin autorescan fix the
problem.
Daphile always introduce a full rescan every restart and it seems that
the autorescan plugin get in the way.
This plugin is not certified with LMS 8.1.1
When removed Daphile will index the collection only once.

Recently started using Daphile and really enjoying it, easy install and
good performance. Came form Vortexbox (using an 10 years old Vortexbox
appliance, Intel Athom) but it got unstable and I'm a noob in Linux. I
tried to find out if it's possible to use MusicIP/Spicefly in
combination with Daphile. Couldn't find anything about it. Anybody who
has it working with Daphile?

2020-12-31 Thread mftech

Hi to all,
yesterday I updated Daphile on different music server:

Server 1:
Daphile 20:12 Update goes straight whitout any problems
Daphile start correctly.
But LMS didn't start and finally crash.
I reset three times Daphile to the latest firmware defaults and start
over with the same results.
I was able to get LMS started by leaving most of the plugins at default.
It seems that after a restart LMS got difficulties to open.
This server had an internal music storage and the OS installed on a SSD.

Server 2:
Daphile 20:12 Update installed whitout any issues.
As soon as we restart the server LMS takes at least 20m to open, but
hopefully no crash.
This server is configured with an internal storage and the Daphile OS is
installed on m2 internal drive.
The internal music storage is mounted correctly and available for
browsing.

Server 3:
Daphile 20:12 Update installed whitout any issues.
LMS start as usual even after several server restart.
This server is configured with a m.2 storage having both the OS and the
music storage.

it seems that LMS is looking for the music storage...
I never got this problem with LMS, I used LMS since 2005.

In the log file, I see the following:

As I said before: You'll need a very recent LMS version. Daphile uses a
customized version of LMS. Nobody but the Daphile developer can help
you. You should ask him about it.

Tidal is a default install in Plugins

Go to mysqueezebox.com and install the Tidal App, when you Log in you
should be taken to Tidal to sign in using your Tidal account details.

On the LMS web gui, Home, go to My Apps, select Tidal and your account
should show at the bottom.

Select the Streaming Quality and you should be golden

You need to be on a LMS v8 for best results

You'd need to use LMS 8.1 in order to be able to stream FLAC with
Deezer. I'm not sure whether that's what Daphile is using.

I am not an expert on this by any means, but I have recently been
playing around with various DRC tools.

When you make a correction you are attempting to force the sound profile
to fit an ideal curve, maybe flat, maybe harmon curve or some other
"ideal". To do this the correction will reduce the voume of peaks and
increase the volume of troughs throughout the audio spectrum.
Sometimes the increase in a trough maybe too much for the amplifier (or
speakers) to handle and can cause clipping. By reducing the overall gain
you give the system leeway to increase the volume of the troughs but
still to stay under 0db.

When you are getting a peak of +2.66db I think that is referring to the
amount of boost to a particular frequency that is needed to cancel out a
trough, and is a guldeline to the overall gain that you should be
applying to avoid peaking over 0db. i.e. -2.68db.

Follow up, one year later...

I've managed to fix the touchscreen offset.

The thread where this post was written
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?110040-Jivelite-on-a-Joggler=932654=1#post932654
gave me an insight on the way lua, libSDL & libTS work together.

I've added the following to /usr/local/bin/jivelite.sh

Code:

  export TSLIB_FBDEVICE=/dev/fb0
  export TSLIB_TSDEVICE=/dev/input/event3
  export TSLIB_CALIBFILE=/usr/local/etc/pointercal
  export TSLIB_CONFFILE=/usr/local/etc/ts.conf
  export TSLIB_PLUGINDIR=/usr/local/lib/ts
  export SDL_MOUSEDRV=TSLIB
  export SDL_MOUSEDEV=$TSLIB_TSDEVICE
  export JIVE_NOCURSOR=1

TSLIB_TSDEVICE is found by inspecting the link in /dev/input/by-id/
libSDL has to use TSLIB mouse driver and TSLIB_TSDEVICE to get correct
position events from the touchscreen.

The only remaining issue was related to /etc/pointercal generation via
ts_calibrate (termination on malloc error), so I did install a minimal
Debian, added libts-bin, then ran ts_calibrate and saved the resulting
pointercal file.

After pointercal was copied to /etc on a fresh
daphile-20.08-b040759-x86_64 install, everything worked flawlessly.

I guess I could try to reach Kimmo to see whether this could be refined
and added to the settings (input device & driver choice, touchscreen
calibration).

Hello
Is there a way that I can alter any of the Jivelite settings on Daphile.
In particular the setting to set the display resolution. I have Daphile
19.01-64 on a thin client driving a 7" lcd, it makes a really neat music
player but I need to increase the size of print, I can't read it.
I use picoreplayer on pi3 b+ and have full control of jivelite settings
for the screen.
Any way I can get in to Daphile to get back jivelites setup.
Or do any of the older Daphiles have a more full jivelite setup.
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Hi @Kipeta

I’ve been using LMS off and on for sometime but never Daphile. Installed
the latest Daphile beta to try it out and its really quite a polished
product. Thank you

One question though - the artist album sorting order is different from
the regular LMS installation. I do have some non english album artists
in my library and they typically are sorted in/after “Z”.

In Daphile - I have some chinese artists appearing all over the place. I
removed all my artistsort tags in the past - so shouldn’t be due to the
problem with tags. Any clue on what causes that?

Just found time to experiment.
Downloaded and installed daphile-19.07-b161858-x86_64 on a new SSD (NUC
Bios was upgraded too).
I then started to tinker with ts_calibrate
After changing /etc/ts.conf to

Code:

module_raw input
  module variance delta=30
  module dejitter delta=100
  module linear

ts_calibrate starts to draw on screen then stops with the following glib
message :

Code:

dapfenliv / # ts_calibrate
  malloc(): invalid size (unsorted)
  Aborted
  dapfenliv / #

Don't know whether the issue is in ts_calibrate code or in the way I
call it (no env vars provided).
I'm downloading right now a gentoo image to build the last tslib
revision and test.

G’day d6jg

I have been running Daphile as my production LMS server for at least 3
years now. I run the latest betas and they are very stable on my old Mac
Mini. It’s an old Core 2 Duo 2.5ghz with 4GB ram and a 120GB SSD. Music
is stored on my seperate file server.

I really like the customisations on the UI, it looks and operates better
than stock IMO. Plus it has a nice dark colour theme that I prefer.

Give it a try, you can run it live from a Boot CD without making changes
to your HDD.

I've yet to try it, but I found:
http://www.daphile.com/firmware/beta/CHANGES-18.07-b090752

2018-07-09 beta version 18.07-b090752 (x86_64, x86_64-rt & i486)
changes:
- LMS update to Jun 28th, 2018 Git version (cb40858)
- Kernel update to 4.14.52 and 4.14.52-rt34
- Bug fixes and some component updates
- Basically the same as stable release 18.07

Re: [slim] Call for testers! Daphile

2017-03-20 Thread Kuja

It works now! :)

The problem was in my active extension cable with USB repeater.

I was using it because my MacMini is away from my hifi equipment rack.

When I moved my Daphile PC close to my DAC and plugged the HiFace
directly*without the active extension cable,*it started working.

I never thought that this could be the problem, since HiFace works
perfectly connected to my Mini with that cable.

Hello! :)

I just have installed the latest Daphile 16.07-i486 on my old thin

It is an old VIA C7 motherboard with 1GB RAM and a 2GB solid state IDE

It has an integrated sound chip that I have disabled in Daphile
settings.

Daphile output is set to my m2tech HiFace 2 USB to SPDIF converter.

Everything looks fine when I hit the "Play" button, all the songs seem
to be playing just fine (the counter is counting time, etc),*but there
is no signal going from my HiFace 2 to my DAC.

The same HiFace works just fine wih my MacMini.

What could be the problem?

2016-09-15 Thread ant!

Hi kipeta,

this is related to my wave input question on FB. I have installed as
suggested the Wavinput plugin to check if it does what I want, and in
theory it does. I know you haven't used this plugin, but maybe you have
still an idea:
The plugin has not much configuration, only pointing to the right ALSA
device, usually "wavin:default" should do the job, but it isn't. That's
why I used ssh to get to the to the arecord and alsamixer, but still
struggling.
The developer of wavinput thinks there might be something deactivated by
you, or some permissions not set (e.g. user running arecord not member
of the audio group).

I know this is not really related to your main software and I'd
understand if you say you don't give support on that. Would be still
great if you could have a look into this thread, maybe you have an idea:

The absence of a license means that default copyright laws apply. This
means that developer retains all rights to his/her source code and that
nobody else may reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from
his/her work.

Daphile contains some derived works and all that are covered under GPL
(or similar terms) are available with sources+patches at:

See my comment above on copyright / license question.

It's a design choice. It's of course a trade-off between easy to install
and maintain versus flexibility. Some technical solutions differ quite a
lot from many other Linux distros which make it not suitable for user
modifications. Also the target audience for Daphile has been always
rather the audiophiles (even with limited computer skills) than
technically savvy Linux experts.

I just don't share your view on this. The system can definitely use GPL
components without being completely GPL by itself.

Re: [slim] Call for testers! Daphile

2016-02-24 Thread Ins236

I'm a developer and interested in modifying daphile. I followed several
discussions about daphile related to the GPL and open source.

1. Under what terms/license is daphile released?

Daphile credits all open source packages it uses, but the terms under
which the daphile webinterface is released are not very clear. I don't
find it anywhere on the daphile site.

2. Is daphile a derived work?

The website mentions "Daphile is based on the open source Squeezebox
Server, SqueezePlay and Linux.". Playing with a recent beta, daphile
incorporates an LMS gui in it's own webinterface (using LMS 7.9) and a
recent squeezelite 1.8. So it needs LMS as server and squeezelite as
player and also recycles the LMS webinterface in his own GUI. So to have
a working daphile program that can play music, it needs existing open
source packages to function.

3. Several discussions on other forums state that the daphile source is
closed/proprietary, but I can read all shell scripts?

The program that makes up the webinterface (several bash scripts) are
plaintext, no compiled proprietary binaries? So the source is already
open for anyone to read.

4. Why close down a linux distro to restrict modifications?

I had to download the beta to be able to SSH into daphile, as the stable
versions do not have a console or SSH enabled. I could also use a
recovery CD to add a console/SSHD to the stable version.
This is very annoying. Vortexbox and almost all other distributions that
contain LMS or squeezelite (like picoreplayer) allow SSH.

Combining (2) and (3) I assume under the GPL, this can be classified as
a derived work, which makes Daphile also OSS.

2015-05-21 Thread kipeta

You should not use local player plugin with Daphile. Daphile creates
squeezelite instance automatically for each recognized audio device and
you can change mixer on/off settings using the web UI at Settings -
Audio Devices.

Re: [slim] Call for testers! Daphile

2015-05-21 Thread marmoset

Ah! I'm used to installing this plugin in the past, when I got no sound
I figured thats what it was.

The first system I made used a old M-Audio usb recording interface I
once used, it had no mixer with the windows drivers so that must be why
it worked straight away.
This one was again using an old M-Audio interface but firewire and has
mixer software.
Daphile recognised it but no sound.
So with these interfaces the mixer on should be ticked, is that what you
are saying? It has 4 RCA Outputs, will Daphile pickup Outputs 1 +2 by
default?

Cheers

Re: [slim] Call for testers! Daphile

2015-05-20 Thread marmoset

Have now tried around 6 re-installs, using 64bit - 32bit - and latest
beta version 15.05, and none allow Squeezelite to start.

Saw this thread in forum...
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?97766-Announce-Local-Player-plugin-and-Squeezelite-for-Linux-Windows-OSX/page45highlight=daphile

As Daphile doesn't have terminal access I cannot try the fixes there,
but that was why I was trying Daphile as unlike Vortexbox it has the
simpler GUI.

I have 3 HP Small Form Factor PCs my work was going to throw in the
skip, along with 3 spare Audio interfaces ( I have been working in Audio
Production for 15 years), and I have manage to give 1 free Music
Streaming System away so far using Daphile which setup fine. One of the
remaining 2 was to replace my Windows LMS.

Looks like I may be returning to my Windows system...

Re: [slim] Call for testers! Daphile

2015-05-17 Thread marmoset

Can anyone please help with my install issue with Squeezelite?
My 2nd Daphile server install, up and running easily first time around.

This time, loaded 64bit ISO onto USB and installed from there, HDMI and
Firewire Audio recognized and show up as Players.
However selected Firewire Out thru Squeezelite and no sound.Tried HDMI
and no sound also.

I noticed the Plugin itself was not Ticked as installed on plugins page,
so did so. Then in Squeezelite settings on the plugins page it says not
running although ticked to run at start up.

Server Log shows this message, is someone able to detect the problem
here...

No, the files are ok, without strange characters in the name...

How is your NAS connected to your Daphile box and do you have any power
saving features like disk spin-down enabled?

The mini-pc where Daphile is installed is connected to my home-network
with lan cable (gigabit speed, if is important, but I don't think so).
Today I tried this.
I copied a couple of albums that gave me problems on an USB pendirve

the pendirve everything works!
So it seems a problem with the Network Folder as said by Lem.
So I ask: what exactly are the settings which I must change?
About buffer: in Settings-Audio Devices I find Stream buffer (now
3072kB), Output buffer (now 4096kB) and ALSA buffer time (now
100ms)...
In Settings-Power nothing is setted and HDD-spindown is disabled.
Any help is really appreciated!

Hi!
I'm trying Daphile on a Zotac Ci320. Daphile (versione
15.03-b270858-x86_64) is installed on the internal SSD and all seems to
work grate BUT an annoying thing.
Many of my music files are on a NAS and are in flac format.
I usually select the album that I want to play browsing this network
drive with the Music Folder option: then on the folder I click on the
play icon to add all the tracks to my playlist.
It happens very often that the first track is not reproduced.
It seems that Daphile doesn't recognize the first file as a flac file,
but an unknown binary file.
I'm sure that the file has no problem (I can play it with other player)
and this happens with several album all in flac format.
In a forum someone suggest me to edit the tag on this file, but nothing
changes...

Can someone help me?

Daphile is quite adjustable. Try increasing the buffers slightly.
Also check the default CPU setting - it may have been misconfigured on
boot. You can set to a fixed rate or dynamic.

Goto [player name]/cgi-bin/Devel for a hidden menu where you can drop

Failing that, maybe try Squeezeplay instead of Squeezelite (although
I've never seen an specific issue with Squeezelite) or post up your

Hi, any luck getting daphile to work on hyper-v? I actually have it
running - I had to install as hardware both a legacy NIC and a regular
NIC. When I do this, daphile boots and I can use it for maybe 45
minutes. And then LMS stops responding and I need to reboot the
VM...does anyone have any advice on how to get daphile working on
hyper-v?

thanks!

Anyone else having issues with 14.11-b280644-x86_64?

This update will only play the first song in any list.. repeatedly.

First time I've had an issue with this and as you can imagine.. quite
irritating!

Good project, so far the best lms + player integration.

But no console, no ssh, is an ugly thing.

There's no support for bluetooth dongle, it could be usefull for
additionnal players (something like a portable squeezebox boom for
kitchen or bathroom). And, it can be added without console / ssh /telnet
: so bad.

The rest of this project is impressive.
