Re: [slim] Search results for LMS: false negative

2016-12-06 Thread jimzak

I deleted library.db and the complete rescan proceeded flawlessly and of
course the search results were perfect.

The reason I needed to do the complete rescan was for the reason you
mentioned: I moved all my entries for the letter D to another hard drive
to use space more efficiently on the drives.

I will need to add a 5th drive soon.

Thanks and Happy Holidaze.

Re: [slim] Search results for LMS: false negative

2016-12-06 Thread Michael Herger

If someone can tell me what cache files to delete, I'll attempt another
"Clear library and rescan everything".

I didn't find anything particular in your scanner.log except that it
found about 20k new/changed track on one drive, while it removed about
the same number from a folder on a different drive. Might be totally
unrelated, but anyway.

You should at least try the clear & rescan option every now and then.
The more brutal method would be to shut down LMS, then delete library.db
from the LMS cache folder.

BTW I have this as a stable setup for over a year and it has worked very
well. Without the RAM disk, the "new music" function would be pretty
useless.

I hope you've set the memory usage to "maximum"
(settings/advanced/Performance)?

I was partially correct. I did complete an update scan but NOT a delete
database and total rescan as I first attempted.

I have placed the rescan log in Michael's outbox.

Thanks.

Re: [slim] Search results for LMS: false negative

2016-12-05 Thread Michael Herger

I just rescanned my entire collection, or rather tried to.

LMS stalled at 0 scanned and then I aborted and restarted a scan after
another complete "delete and rescan" failed.

You should probably change the thread's subject. Obviously you wouldn't
find something which has failed to scan. You're not dealing with a
search problem, but with a scanner problem :-).

Should I manually delete the database, and try again?

First of all check the server.log and scanner.log files for hints about
the failure. Feel free to drop a copy to my inbox:

[slim] Search results for LMS: false negative

2016-12-05 Thread jimzak

When I search for either single words "Vanessa" or "Daou", I get no
matches with LMS search from the main screen, not advanced search.

However, I can use the music folder link to browse to 5-6 folders with
music by Vanessa Daou with correctly tagged music in each folder.

Any ideas?

I just rescanned my entire collection, or rather tried to.

LMS stalled at 0 scanned and then I aborted and restarted a scan after
another complete "delete and rescan" failed.

I should probably rescan but I not sure how to make LMS scan when it
doesn't seem to want to. Previous scans with no changes to my system
have worked fine.

I have 4 x 3TB drives in a single external enclosure connected by USB 3
to a Win 10 NUC i7 16 GB computer with a 6 GB RAM disk that has the LMS
database.

LMS was upgraded to the latest 7.9 beta after the last beta from a
couple of months ago stalled as above.

Should I manually delete the database, and try again?

Thanks.
