Re: [DQSD-Users] Google's deskbar and miniviewer
I see 5 features that are really worth replicating: 1) the miniviewer, by far the most important to me 2) configuration dialog--in my opinion it's a must that it should allow you to easily enable/disable searches 3) snappy performance 4) the installer--actually how clean it is 5) shortcuts at the moment dsdq is vastly superior to gg's deskbar, due to variety of open searches and extensibility, but gg's engineers won't take long to bridge the gap and add useful features based on lots of user input. If the major features are simply the mini-viewer and the keyboard shortcuts it's actually relatively simple. The only other thing that looks appealing to me from the googlebar is the settings screen, which could be recreated, as well. Is there anything else that people desire from the googlebar? [DQSD-Users] Any dqsd equivalents that don't require IE?
I realize this question has been asked before, and that the answer is In order to work at all, DQSD requires the IE engine to be installed on your PC. However, I need to revive an old Pentium machine by installing 98lite, which strips IE from Win98, and running Opera to browse the web. But I'm so attached to DQSD that I need to find something equivalent to it. Most likely, it would have to be a web-based service/page, although I'm still hoping for the miracle of someone saying, I did it, I modified DQSD to run without IE! Any suggestions anyone? [DQSD-Users] how to shrink toolbar w/o losing long clock
I want to move the toolbar to the right side of my screen. See the first picture. The long clock format is shown. There's a lot of extra white padding to the left of the clock. When Ishrink the toolbar the long clock format is replaced by the short clock format almost immediately, even though there appears to be still a lot of white space to the left of the clock string. So, how and where do I redefine the width so that I can get the long clock format with the minimum of white padding? The second picture shows the short clock with all the padding which replaces the long clock. Another thing you can notice is that the menu button has disappeared, even though there appears to be a lot of room to fit a frame for the menu button to sit on. How and where do I redefine the width so that I can also fit the menu button with the minimum of extra padding? Thank youDo you Yahoo!? Yahoo! It helped! Thanks. Kim_Gräsman [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi SGP, So, how and where do I redefine the width so that I can get the long clock format with the minimum of white padding? You could add this to your localprefs.js file:/* clock long form width.* long form is used if this pixel width is exceeded* default = 139*/clocklongwidth=80;Experiment until you're happy with the width. You need to restart (Type! and press Enter) for the changes to take effect. It appears from the preferences.js file, that the menu button iscontrolled by clocklongwidth as well.Hope that helps,Kim -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of SGP Sent: den 8 mars 2003 22:44 To: dqsd Subject: [DQSD-Users] how to shrink toolbar w/o losing long clock I want to move the toolbar to the right side of my screen. [DQSD-Users] dqsd makes my PC very slow
Hello everyone, I hate to say this because I really value dqsd, but I'm more and more convinced that it makes my PC very slooow at times, to the point that I'm seriously considering to uninstall dsdq. At the moment, I've just closed the bar and myPC seems to be back to its normal speed and responsiveness. What I noticed is that with dqsd enabled, IE and Explorer too "stutter" and block for long times for apparently no reason. I can't understand what's going on. I'd like to dig further into it, but I probably lack the necessary technical expertise. I think I could handle running a debug version of dqsd if someone told me how to, and collecting log files. Has anyone else noticed their PC became slow with dqsd enabled? Can anyone give me general performance improvement suggestions? I'm running win2k SP3 (but noticed this with SP2 too), IE 6.0.2800.1106, dqsd 3.1.4.0, ZoneAlarm 2.6.362. I sure hope I won't have to depart from dqsd because without it the web has truly become more limited for me...Do you Yahoo!? HotJobs - Search new jobs daily now
[DQSD-Users] command line interface for dsdq?
Hi everyone, this might just be a crazy idea, but is it possible to write a command line interface to dsdq? I'm thinking about a no-frills.exe file that just passes its input line on to dsdq, as if it had been typed into the dsdq input field. I would use this tool to integrate dsdq into other tools, such as Mile Linn's MCL, or Windows PowerPro... has anyoneelsefigure out other ways to integrate dsdq into the windows environment, or into other power tools?Do you Yahoo!? RE: [DQSD-Users] Some questions/suggestions
How aboutenhancing dqsdas agoogle-bar-bot? When the google bar is installed, instead of submitting a form to google, dqsdwould input the search items into the google bar and let it do the search. Does it make sense? Is it doable? Will Dean <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>wrote: At 09:25 30/09/2002 +0200, you wrote:Hey, Monty skipped this point, while I think it's a very interesting one !! Actually, It's one of the 3 reasons why I still have the Google bar (tip, if you don't know : cut'n paste text into Googlebar's textbox, click the highlight button, you're done, but quite tedious I recon). And if you want to know, the 2 other are : the "up one -or more- level" button, and the "search this site" button. So I agree this is a cool idea (if doable, as you said). I think you should file a request in SF on this one too.I think it's hard, because DQSD doesn't know anything about what IE does after DQSD submits a form. We've not even managed to meet peoples' hopes about start-maximised, etc, because of this problem about not knowing which IE window is related to the recently submitted form. And that's for a problem where knowing the window handle would be pretty much all you needed.I assume that the Google search bar manipulates the HTML within the displayed page to add the tags for background colour - that kind of thing is an awful lot easier to do it you're in-process in the IE window than if you're out-of-process hosted by the shell.Perhaps we need to produce a DQSD bar which runs within IE (or some other IE add-in) which can communicate with the DQSD window on the taskbar for information about required highlighting.Just my tuppence worth.Will---This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeekWelcome to geek heaven.http://thinkgeek.com/sf___DQSD-Users mailing list[EMAIL PROTECTED]https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dqsd-usershttp://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_id=8601Do you Yahoo!? RE: [DQSD-Users] autodetect
I kind of agreewith Monty. Consistencywill help future development, I'm sure. Perhapsthere is amiddle ground. Could the alias function be expanded to define the current special handling patterns as aliases?
