RE: [DQSD-Users] COMX.XML - missing Joy of Tech & User Friendly (again)

2006-03-26 Thread Charlie Russel
You're right, it's going against comics.com. But I've cleared the
browser cache (both 32bit and 64bit ie), and definitely replaced the
comx.xml. And reloaded with !, of course. And via the >> menu. And I'm
even getting the popup, so that's a sure sign it's not the original
comx.xml.

I'm going to do a reboot in a few minutes.

Charlie.

2006-03-26 Thread Monty Scroggins

It sounds like it is running an old comx.xml, or you have the URL
cached. This behavior is what you will get when the pattern matching
fails to find the string in the destination website.. (which is what
was happening after forbetter was removed from comics.com)..

After you get the blank window, do a view source on the page and see
what the url is for the image.. I suspect it might be trying to go to
comics.com..

Maybe it has something to do with comics pulled from ucomics.com. Try
viewing 'Dick Tracy' using both of the following methods to see if they
work:

comx /dicktracy
or
comx /dicktracy /nopopup

If neither work, try clearing your browser cache and try again.

Hey Brent..

I hear ya.. I worried about that.. I use Firefox exclusively...I
just thought it might be a little quicker to display the comics with a
trimmed down featureless window (since IE is already running via the OS).

When you say "make it optional", do you mean an option on the command
line? or do you mean to set a variable in a config somewhere?

I am happy to implement such a thing..

2006-03-26 Thread Monty Scroggins

Thanks Kim..   I was concerned that it might generate the security
banner in the popup window, but I didnt think it would..   I was also
concerned about racetv.xml for the same reason..    The racetv search
limits the output to about 120 lines (originally put in to work around
the writefile() limit which is now fixed)..  If I take the limit out,
and all of the collected html is displayed, it will generate the
security banner.  The bottom of the racetv html contains links to other
sites..etc..  I guess this is what is triggering the security
mechanism..
