RE: [DQSD-Users] Comx request
Hi Gregory, I fired up fiddler (http proxy) and saw that xmlhttp is setting the referer to the html page calling it (in my case: file://C:\Program Files\Quick Search Deskbar\search.htm) and ignoring what I tell it to set it to. Probably for security reasons. Possibly we could "shell out" to a command prompt and use curl or wget and download the file. Brent --- Gregory Krohne <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Tried that. Tried that. Doesn't work. I'm baffled. That's why I suggested throwing up a real browser window, and getting the comic back out of it somehow. And, yes: please do check in the political comics. -Original Message- Couldn't you use xmlhttp to download the image locally (you can fake the referer I believe) and then point to the local copy of the image in the file generated by comx.xml? Couldn't you use xmlhttp to download the image locally (you can fake the referer I believe) and then point to the local copy of the image in the file generated by comx.xml? Re: [DQSD-Users] Comx request
This is exactly the same problem with all of the King Features Syndicate comics. http://www.kingfeatures.com/features/comics/comics.htm I tried to figure it out a few times, but I never could get a working solution. Maybe, DQSD could create a temporary popup window with the official URL and some script to pass back the URL of the fetched comic image. I'm not sure how to do that, but it seems feasible, at least. Hmmm I took a peek at this one.. There is a problem in that the comic image is served up through a content management system. If I extract the URL of the image and attempt to fetch it directly, there is an error generated - no referer. In other words, it looks to me that the comic will only be served up via the nwsource.com site.. I could be mis-interpreting what is going on, and someone else might have an idea on how to work around it.. Monty Charlie Russel wrote: > Anyone feel up to trying to add "Zits" to the comx list? Re: [DQSD-Users] Comx request
Monty Charlie Russel wrote: Anyone feel up to trying to add "Zits" to the comx list? It's a King Features one, so it's not available online at the more normal sources. I have found it online daily at the Seattle Post Intelligencer (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/fun/zits.asp), but parsing the comx.xml file and figuring out how to get it to work properly is beyond me, I'm afraid.
