Hi Terry:
I didn.t open mine up, but I have the original box and datasheet for my
black 44D. There is no cap shown on the wiring diagram. WHite from the
connector goes to the ptt switch and then to the impedance switch as
yellow, then either the black or red to the cartridge. The white

Why do you say it's failed? They're pretty tough tubes, and relay
problems are usually somewhere else.
There are several subs that 'work', but none is a good as the 6EV7. The
6EV7 is becoming expensive, ($10,) but so are all the common subs.
The 6AQ8 will work with the addition of

I haven't measured one yet, but it is identical to L6 on the next wafer
up. It is the increment coil from 80M to 160M. If L5 is damaged by
overcurrent, the ferrite core may have been permanently changed, causing
the same number of turns as L6 to be considerably less inductance.
Greetings,
Trying to find a source for the 8 Amp fuse with pig tails that solders into the
filament string on the T4XB. Can find the fuse but not with pig tails, any help
would be appreciated. Thanks.

Jim,
I found someone had already tweaked the +10 up to 10.4V to try and compensate
for the problem. When I got the radio the xtal was already about 9KHz away from
the passband skirt at 10.4V and only muffled noises could be heard with the
pseudo AM filter setting.
Maybe if I tweaked it up to
I've never tried this, but couldn't you just clip the leads off of a cap
or resistor from your junk box and solder them on to the end caps of a
regular 8a fuse. You would certainly reflow the inside connection but as
long as you still have continuity when your done, no harm no foul. I
wouldn't
Bob,
I would be concerned that the heat would clear the fuse element, or at least
make it more prone to clearing at reduced current.

Gary,
You could try to use an in-line fuse holder. You will have to dress the wiring
a little differently. These should be available, even at Rat Shack.

Soldering small buss wire pigtails to a fuse works fine ... scrape the plating
off both ends where you intend to solder and be quick about it ... I have
done it many times.

There are any number of sources for axial pigtail fuses. Here is one.
Why mess around with jury rigs?

The other alternative is to mount one of the little single fuse blocks
that mounts with a single hole. Then takes regular fuses.
But unless you have a short on the filament line you should never blow
another one.

I had that fuse go up in my TR3 back in the 80s. I never found a cause. I
replaced it, and it ran fine until I sold it several years back.
