separate
PTOs or transceive with the rx PTO all works great. Is there a trimmer
or coil I should tweak to bring the two peaks closer together??
Ive got the Drake manual and Garrys CD.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Garey,
I continue to refer to the pix from your Drake CD so your efforts are
definitely appreciated. My latest problem is that I have to replace

Just buy and install the AC-4R sold by WB8VGE. It replaces all parts with
solid state parts and bigger and better caps and resistors. I have one

Until recently my T4XC PTO output was perfect in that there was no

I've used a 20 amp line for a couple of years. My L-4B works great. If
you do the math (P=EI) at 20 amps you would have capacity for roughly
4800 watts which is at least DOUBLE the AC wattage needed for the L-4B
for full RF output.

I have obtained an R4C with many of the Sherwood mods installed
including the solid state 3d mixer which is supposed to eliminate the
dreaded frying crackle. Unfortunately occasionally I hear a bit of

not really a hiss
I have an ailing R12 in my L4-B power supply. Although functioning a
portion of the outer cover has split off and I am afraid it is only a
matter of time until it fails. The resistor is listed as .82 ohms at 2
watts. There is a note to replace with IRC Type BWH resistor only. I

I turned on my trusty T-4XC a little while ago and it failed me! I
will try to swap out a tube or two but here are my observations in case
anyone might be able to point me to the fix.

I am setting up a 2NT with a VFO. The easiest way to connect seems to
be to connect the output of the vfo to a crystal socket. I would like to
try as a plug an FT-243 crystal holder with the crystal removed and the
vfo output soldered to the two holder pins. Anybody willing to part

Just got home from Dayton with a TR4CW/rit. Hooked it up and find that
the transmitter will put out 150w on cw. All controls seem to act
correctly. SO I think I am OK on the transmitter side. The receiver
needs some work. I can hear signals but the s meter does not react.

Last night I exercised the RCVR/XCVR slide switch on the side of the
radio and it came to life. Seems to work well on 80/40 but 20m is in
need of help. The RF Tune is out of range; i.e., the gain on 20m
increases as I turn CCW but I hit the end of the range before it peaks.
