[dspace-tech] External RSS as if it was a submission process in Dspace?

2018-04-16 Thread Hugo Carlos
Hello!
Is it possible to use an RSS feed (a custom scopus feed that notifies me of
new indexed publications from my institution for example), to automatically
create the records of that RSS in Dpsace records? As if the RSS feed inject
itens as a submission process? So would the operator could just check the
items before they are made public?
I do not have knowledge about RSS. Just a thought.

Regards

[dspace-tech] supportedLocale string in pageMeta

2018-04-16 Thread Michael Plate
Hi,

it is an absolute mystery to me where the string of the locale shown in
the navbar ist taken from.

In the DRI, it shows up in the pageMeta section as

Deutsch

or

English

but where are the strings "Deutsch", "English" taken from ?

I have configured the two sections by entering the new filter, which is the

Here is my discovery.xml file configured.

[dspace-tech] Announcing the first DSpace 7 (Virtual) Development Sprint (May 7 - 18). Sign up to learn more about & contribute to DSpace 7!

2018-04-16 Thread Tim Donohue
All,

I'm proud to announce our first *DSpace (Virtual) Development Sprint* on
the DSpace 7 codebase from May 7 to 18.

We are in search of developers interested in joining us for a two week
sprint (you need not be available for the entire two weeks). Sprint
developers/participants will help us make enhancements / squash bugs in the
DSpace 7 browse/search interfaces. Tasks will be available for both the
DSpace 7 UI (using Angular.io) and REST API (using Java / Spring
technologies). See the Sprint Goals
 for
more details.

*No experience with DSpace 7 codebase is necessary* (though experience with
prior DSpace releases is recommended). Sprint Coaches will be on hand to
help provide ongoing support. However, as no official training/workshops
will be held during the sprint, participants will be expected to be
proactive in learning new concepts via the provided learning resources

(including
a video recorded Angular UI workshop). Don't worry though, we fully expect
participants to have questions and need ongoing support, which is where the
Sprint Coaches come in.

Whether you have contributed to DSpace in the past or not, this is great
opportunity to learn more about the DSpace 7 Angular UI and/or new REST
API. If you've never participated in the open source development process,
this is a great way to "get your feet wet", and perhaps submit your very
first Pull Request (PR) to DSpace!

*Signups are open immediately *on the below wiki page. Feel free to pass
this along to colleagues!
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+7+Community+Sprints

If you want more information about the specific goals/tasks of this first
sprint, they can be found on the Sprint #1 subpage:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+7+Community+Sprint+1

We hope you are able to join us in our first (of hopefully many) DSpace
Development Sprint! As we like to say, DSpace would not exist without the
hard work and support of our worldwide community. We hope these sprints
will not only help move the software forward, but also allow developers
worldwide to learn more about collaboration in distributed, open source
communities.

If you or your team have questions, feel free to get in touch, either via
email or Slack .

Sincerely,

Tim Donohue

Re: [dspace-tech] ant fresh_install BUILD FAILED

2018-04-16 Thread Tim Donohue
Hello,

The error from Ant is saying "org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: Connection
to 88.80.191.238:5432 refused. Check that the hostname and port are correct
and that the postmaster is accepting TCP/IP connections."

This means that DSpace is unable to communicate with the configured
PostgreSQL database at IP address 88.80.191.238 and port 5432. Either
your database is not installed and running on that IP and port, or you may
have a firewall which is blocking access to the database.

Please double check that your PostgreSQL database is available on that IP
address and port. A few ways you could do so it to try and connect to the
database (using the username/password) via PostgreSQL tools, e.g. either
the commandline psql tool, or via the pgAdmin UI.

* pgAdmin: https://www.pgadmin.org/
* commandline psql tool:
https://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.3/static/app-psql.html

You also should make sure you've followed all the database setup
instructions listed in step #4 of the DSpace installation documentation:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC6x/Installing+DSpace#InstallingDSpace-Installation

If you have further questions about this, let us know on this mailing list.

Re: [dspace-tech] New dublin Core Type

Hi Rodrigo,

not sure about Your question it, but...

login as administrator and look in the menus for metadata reference list
(sorry, only have xmlui version here).

You will see a list of at least three namespaces

http://dublincore.org/documents/dcmi-terms/ (dc)
http://dspace.org/eperson (eperson)
http://purl.org/dc/terms/ (dcterms)

preferred would be adding your own namespace, but you can extend "dc" of
course.
After adding the new field, remember when using it in the
input-forms.xml to set the correct namespace int the tag.

Hope it helps,

CU

[dspace-tech] Usage Statistics

2018-04-16 Thread Marina M.
Good morning,

We do not host our own DSpace, and I am a little bit lost trying to get
monthly usage statistics. I do not have access to the backend, the only
thing I can see regarding stats is when I log in and click on the
Statistics tab. However, there is no breakdown of usage statistics per
months, year, etc. The only thing I am able to see is a number of total
visits and views (see attachment).

Please help, what is the best way to view my stats?

Thank you,

Marina

Re: [dspace-tech] Add filter to advanced filters in JSPUI

2018-04-16 Thread Tim Donohue
Hi Rodrigo,

In the "discovery.xml", the homepage configuration is listed in a separate
section from the default configuration. So, my guess is you may have only
updated the default settings (which are used on all other pages).

The default list of filters/facets is in this section:
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/dspace-5_x/dspace/config/spring/api/discovery.xml#L94

But, the homepage list of filters/facets is in this separate section:
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/dspace-5_x/dspace/config/spring/api/discovery.xml#L199

[dspace-tech] unable to search on the File Description in DSpace

2018-04-16 Thread Bhavesh Patel
Dear All,

DSpace search feature unable to search on the File Description (enter while
uploading the file).

Suppose, one Title having 25 files to upload then if we give proper
description to each file so from the searching point of view it's become
easy to search the record.

Is it possible to enable searching from File Description? (see the below
image)

Kindly help us on this feature.

Thanks & Regards,
Bhavesh
