Thanks for the response, Sean. Defining the context path in the server.xml
file enabled me to see the XMLUI interface. However, I'm getting
java.lang.NullPointerException errors when I attempt to view any items,
communities, or collections. I've updated all my config files. I've copied

Hi all,
After upgrading my Dspace installation from 1.5 to 1.6.2, I’m getting 404
errors when attempting to access the XMLUI interface, which I have set as the
default in dspace.cfg (I’m still able to access the JSPUI interface). I
followed the upgrade instructions in the Dspace manual,
This might sound like the No Duh solution, but it tripped me up once: did you
run the /dspace/bin/filter-media command to generate the thumbnails as the
dspace user? And did that return any errors?

Thanks for the responses. I checked the permissions on /usr/bin/pdftoppm and
verified that I could run it as the dspace user, so it doesn't seem to be a
permissions issue.

Just an update to this issue, it looks like there's a section missing from the

Hello,
I'm running DSpace 1.5.2 XMLUI on a Linux system, and I've been trying to
install the XPDF tools for PDF thumbnails, following the recommendation of a
user on this list. I followed the instructions to install the tools in the
1.5.2 documentation and believe I've successfully installed
Hello,
I'm still trying to find a way to change the time zone that Dspace uses for
timestamping submissions from UTC to local time (in our case, U.S. Eastern
Standard). A previous response on the list suggested modifying the file that
updates the time for the database, but I wasn't able to
Hello,
I'm running a DSpace 1.5.2 installation, and I need to change the default time
zone that Dspace is using from UTC to UTC -4 to timestamp submissions. We're
going to be using Dspace for time-sensitive submission of files, and having the
time in UTC is going to undoubtedly confuse some
Hi, all. We're looking to move beyond our test DSpace setup (currently running
on Mac OS 10.5) to an actual production setup, and are debating installing
DSpace on a server we have running Windows Server 2008. Does anyone on the
list have DSpace currently running on Server 2008? Or should we
the failure to delete error been resolved as a
result of permissions changes?

Hi all,
I made a couple changes to my Messages.properties file (to take care of the
???jsp.mydspace.request.export.community.??? button issue, amongst other
things) and did a rebuild of DSpace, but my changes aren't being recognized.
Since I'm using the default release of 1.5.1 and not the
target populates the database with the tables/sequences DSpace expects to
find... if you've deployed the apps some other way you might find you're still
sitting on an empty Dspace database.
Cheers,
Kim.
