[DX] Aihkiniemen pedisviikot ovat nyt jaossa

Hei!

Maailman paras pedispaikka kutsuu taas - nyt on aika varata ensi talven 
kuunteluviikot Aihkiniemessä! Tarjolla ovat seuraavat viikot:


2024: 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 46, 50, 51
2025: 1, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13

Yhdistyksen talkootiimi (MKA, LN, JIS ja JHT) on lähdössä Aihkiniemeen 
ensi viikolla kunnostamaan paikkoja sinua varten. Jos he saavat kaikki 
tarpeelliset antennit kuntoon kesän jäljiltä, tarjolla on siis 
mahdollisuus päästä kuuntelemaan täysillä jo nyt syyskuussa, joka on 
tunnetusti hyvää aussikuunteluaikaa. Antennien tilanne varmistuu ensi 
viikon kuluessa.


Joka tapauksessa tarjolla on tuttuun tapaan useita talviviikkoja 
pitkälle kevääseen asti. Myös vuodenvaihteen (28.12. alkava viikko 1) 
pääsee joku pedisporukka viettämään radion ääressä.


Aihkiniemen varustus, vuokrahinta ja vuokrausehdot pysyvät samoina kuin 
viime vuonna. Yllä mainittujen viikkojen osalta viikon vuokra on siis 
edelleen jo neljättä vuotta peräkkäin 800 euroa. Jos kämpän jakaa kaksi 
kuuntelijaa, hinnaksi tulee 400 euroa per kuuntelija. Viikko vaihtuu 
lauantaisin klo 13.


Otan alustavia varauksia siinä järjestyksessä kun saan niitä 
sähköpostiinim...@makelainen.com. Kun olen vahvistanut, että haluamasi 
viikko on yhä tarjolla, kirjaan varauksesi, ja 200 euron (per viikko) 
varausmaksu tulee maksettavaksi saman tien. Pankkiyhteystiedot ovat 
entiset eli tilinumero Nordeassa on FI06 1032 3500 3889 17, ja saajaksi 
merkitään Inarin Radiomajan kannatusyhdistys. Jos emme saa varausmaksua 
viikon sisällä, varauksesi raukeaa ja laitan ko. viikon tai viikot 
uudelleen jakoon. Kun olemme saaneet varausmaksun, varaus sitoo molempia 
osapuolia. Jos perut myöhemmin varauksesi ilman force majeure -syytä, 
varausmaksua ei palauteta. Maksa loput vuokrasta (600 euroa/vko) 
viimeistään kuukautta ennen pedistä.


Jos lumi- ja pakkasolosuhteet eivät ole kohtuuttomat, ja peditionistin 
terveys sen sallii, kävijöiden tärkein velvollisuus on antennien 
tarkistaminen. Jos et ole aiemmin käynyt Aihkiniemessä, olisi parasta 
lähteä matkaan sellaisen DX-kuuntelijan kanssa, jolle paikka on jo 
tuttu. Jos molemmat kävijät ovat uusia, voimme järjestää perehdytyksen 
etänä ja/tai vuoronvaihdon yhteydessä. Pedisviikon varanneille lähetämme 
myös yksityiskohtaisen ohjekirjan Aihkiniemen käytöstä. Samalla pääset 
mukaan Aihkiniemen käyttäjille tarkoitettuun Aihkiniemi Clubhouse 
-Facebook-ryhmään.


Kuten tähänkin asti, Aihkiniemen vuokraus on tarkoitettu vain 
henkilökohtaiseen kuunteluun, eikä sieltä tarjota 
etäkuuntelumahdollisuutta.

[DX] A new DXpedition report from Aihkiniemi, Finland

Finnish Lapland is over, and here's a report of everything we saw and – 
most importantly – everything we heard during the last two weeks of

Propagation conditions on the AM band were mediocre, but that's just 
about the best that can be expected now that we're approaching the solar 
maximum. Shooting the northern lights, and more generally the Arctic 
nature, was another interest, and yielded rare photos of reddish aurora.

[DX] Aihkiniemen uutisia: Kauden 2022-2023 varaukset ovat jaossa

FM-kesä on ohi ja AM-kausi alkaa. Maailman paras pedispaikka kutsuu taas 
- NYT on aika varata ensi talven pedisviikot Aihkiniemessä! Tarjolla 
ovat edelleen seuraavat viikot: 2022: 49, 51, 52 2023: 4, 5, 8, 13, 14 
(+ ehkä myös vko 3) Nyt syyskuussa fiksaamme 60-asteisen koksin, mikä 
toivottavasti vähentää antennin kohinaa. Parannamme myös 
saunarakennuksen eristeitä ja sähköjä. Aihkiniemen varustus, vuokrahinta 
ja vuokrausehdot ovat samat kuin viime vuonna. Viikon vuokra on siis 800 
euroa, eli jos kämpän jakaa kaksi kuuntelijaa, 400 euroa per kuuntelija. 
Viikko vaihtuu lauantaisin klo 13. Jos sähkö jatkaa kallistumistaan, 
vuokra saattaa nousta, mutta toistaiseksi kaikki alkavalle kaudelle 
tehtävät varaukset saa vielä 800 euroon. Otan alustavia varauksia siinä

olen vahvistanut, että haluamasi viikko on yhä tarjolla, kirjaan

Samanveroinen DX-saalis voisi olla sinullakin. Jos haluat Lappiin 
kuuntelemaan maailman parhaalla antennivalikoimalla, niin Aihkiniemessä 
on vielä muutama viikko vapaana. Tämän vuoden puolella vapaina ovat 
viikot 48 ja 51. Kevättalvella puolestaan pääsee kuuntelemaan viikosta 
13 lähtien eli alkaen 26.3.2022, joka on valaistusolosuhteiden puolesta 
erinomaista aussikuunteluaikaa.

[DX] AIH124-pedisraportti Aihkiniemessä

Havahduin viime viikolla siihen, että edes kaikki suomalaiset 
DX-kuuntelijat eivät vielä tiedä Aihkiniemen pedispaikasta. On siis 
korkea aika kertoa siitä lisää, koska tämä DX-paratiisi Inarijärven 
pohjoispuolella on ollut olemassa jo kymmenen vuotta. Parhaillaan siellä 
kuuntelevat Jari Lehtinen ja Seppo Pirhonen.
Oma pedikseni AIH124 Jim Solatien kanssa päättyi vajaat kolme viikkoa 
sitten. Mikäs siellä oli kuunnellessa, kun varusteina on 14 kilsan 
mittaista Beverage-antennia. Olivat radiokelit hyvät tai huonot, mihin 
suuntaan tahansa, niin kaikkiruokaiselle keskiaaltokuuntelijalle löytyy 
aina uutta ja mielenkiintoista bongattavaa. Ja kunto nousee kun antennit 
koluaa päästä päähän.
Teen pedistarinat englanniksi, koska ne kiinnostavat aika paljon sekä

[DX] AIH106 DXpedition Report from Finland

Here's my latest DXpedition report from Aihkiniemi in the Finnish

delayed due to a reporting assignment in the Amazon, but here it is, 
finally. Neat catches especially from North America keep on coming now 
that we are reviewing recordings with fellow DXer Jim Solatie. I promise 
to try to get the full log published within a decade or so... ;)


In addition to fervent DXing, I snapped loads of photos and videos, also 
with a drone. I have inserted three drone videos in the report. Just

[DX] AIH88 DXpedition Report from Lapland now online!

The latest Aihkiniemi DXpedition report is now online! Come and see what 
Arctic AM DXing can be at its best. Here's a detailed journal of what we 
heard and did on DXpedition AIH88 in the Finnish Lapland. The Chinese do 
have it right, 88 is indeed a lucky number. The DXpedition began with a 
stunning opening to New Zealand. Several stations were heard from 
Dunedin (16,700 km from Aihkiniemi) and Invercargill (16,677 km away), 
which are the most distant AM stations from our QTH that exist. AIH88 
continued with very good conditions to North America, so we have loads 
of recordings to go through. Since this time we were not joined by any 
TV news group reporting about DXing, we made a couple of videos 
ourselves, and they are linked to the report. And even if you wouldn't 
be very interested in AM DXing, I've included a bunch of shots of aurora

Osta nyt syksyn radiokelien tallennukseen vain kertaalleen käytettyä 
kovalevytilaa erittäin edullisesti: yhden teran ulkoiset kovalevyt 15 
euroa ja kahden teran 30 euroa/kpl. Levyt ovat moitteettomassa kunnossa, 
virtalähteet tulevat mukana, ja lähes kaikki ovat alkuperäisissä 
pakkauksissa. Sen verran herkkää tavaraa, että en lähde postittamaan, 
eli nouto kotoa Vantaalta tai työpaikaltani Helsingin Pasilasta. 
Tunnettuja merkkejä (WD, Lacie, Storagebird, GForce). Vähintään USB2

Syksy ja kovat jenkkikelit lähestyvät! NRC:n uusi AM Radio Log (39. 
painos) ilmestyy pian. Järjestän perinteiseen tapaan halukkaiden osalta 
yhteistilauksen NRC:lle.


Jos haluat osallistua yhteistilaukseen, mailaa minulle pikimmiten. Teen

[DX] New DXpedition report from Lapland - Pacific catches and aurora photos!

You can now find the latest DXpedition report from Aihkiniemi, in the 
Finnish Lapland, online at http://www.dxing.info/dxpeditions/aih76rep.htm


We heard many rare stations from the Pacific, including Radio Tuvalu 
(621 AM), never before heard in Finland. Also Gold FM from Fiji (990 AM) 
and V6AH from Micronesia (1449 AM) were identified. A couple of good 
mornings to Latin America resulted in a major load of stations from 
Argentina and Brazil, and North American stations were picked up every 
day during the two-week DXpedition. In the report you can also enjoy 
photos of aurora borealis, the northern lights, for which Lapland is an 
ideal travel destination.


The AIH72 and AIH76 DXpeditions have so far resulted in at least a

[DX] AIH39 DXpedition under the northern lights

Exploration and adventure is still very much alive in the 21st century - 
at least on the AM radio dial!


The 39th DXpedition to Aihkiniemi in the Finnish Lapland began under 
high solar activity, and it looked like the best haul would be photos of 
northern lights. Eventually conditions improved so that terabytes of 
recordings will keep me busy for a very long time to come.


The DXpedition took place already in late October, but I only now 
realized that I forgot to let you know the URL when the report was 
published two months ago. With apologies for the delay, here you go,

A couple of Chinese websites and newspapers have earlier written about 
DXing based on my reception reports, but this is on a totally different 
scale. The Xinhua reports have in turn been published by numerous media 
outlets all around China. I've seen these articles on about 20 websites, 
for instance in the Communist Party's main paper, the People's Daily, at 
http://world.people.com.cn/BIG5/n/2013/1119/c157278-23592700.html, so 
DXing has definitely received unparalleled attention in China during the 
past 10 days!


Hopefully all this contributes to the promotion of DXing in China, both 
as a hobby and also as a way to monitor alternative news sources - which 
is still needed in China. As many Chinese broadcasters - despite this 
new PR - don't know anything about our hobby, it might be a good idea to 
include one of the Chinese links along with your reception report, if 
you're interested in getting verifications from Chinese stations.


The reports were made by a Xinhua news group driving 1,200 km from the 
Finnish capital Helsinki all the way to Lapland just for the purpose of 
reporting on DXing - and reindeer. You can read more about it in the

[DX] Chinese media attention focuses on a DXpedition in Arctic Finland

Nihao! A news crew from the Chinese news agency Xinhua traveled 1,200 
kilometers from Helsinki to Aihkiniemi in Finnish Lapland to shoot a 
report on AM DXing. What did they find?
- A total of 14 Beverage antennas (each 3,000 ft./1 km) spread out in 
the wilderness, probably a world record.

- DXers spending afternoons trying to identify mostly Chinese AM stations.
- Reindeer, hundreds of them, and indigenous Sami people rounding up the 
reindeer, as part of an age-old tradition that is still very much alive. 
And we were present when the highlight of the year for reindeer herders 
arrived.


The 29th DXpedition to Aihkiniemi ended last weekend, and now you can 
read a comprehensive report about it at 
http://www.dxing.info/dxpeditions/aih29rep.dx. Propagation conditions 
ranged from fairly good to rock bottom. However, for at least one week 
out of the three-week DXpedition there were decent conditions to North 
America and the Far East. Lots of photos in the report, and a few MP3 
clips, more to come later. And the logs? Yes, as soon as we've reviewed 
at least 10TB of recordings. A few highlights can be found in the 
report, but detailed logs will take years to compile. In Aihkiniemi, you 
just can't avoid catching a motherload of interesting stations.

Joo, se olikin erikoinen episodi, kun tuo tarina alkoi leviämään 
Kiinassa. Ensimmäinen lehtijuttu ilmestyi Jiangsussa, sitten Kiinan 
valtiollinen uutistoimisto Xinhua teki jutun, ja samalla se alkoi levitä 
aika laajasti kiinalaisessa twitterissä (Sina Weibo). Jossain vaiheessa 
mun emailikin tuli julkiseksi, sillä seurauksella, että tavallisilta 
kiinalaisilta tuli läjäpäin sähköpostia. Onneksi tuli myös QSL ;)

[DX] AIH18 DXpedition report from Finland

Yet another DXpedition report from Aihkiniemi in the Finnish Lapland can 
be found on DXing.info at http://www.dxing.info/dxpeditions/aih18rep.dx


Logging AM stations from Malawi, Uganda and other African countries was 
the highlight of this October DXpedition. From the East, new Thai and 
Chinese stations were heard often. AIH18 began just two weeks after we 
concluded AIH17, and in between there were no major changes in propagation.


We had a total of 13 Beverage-type antennas, each about 1 km (3,000 ft) 
in length. The latest addition was an antenna pointing at 160 degrees, 
which proved to be very useful.


In addition to DXing, we enjoyed the first snow and hiking in the 
mountains of Lapland.

Conditions for AM DXing were not ideal, so we ventured into uncharted 
territory, focusing on Iranian AM stations. A new 1000-meter-long 
Beverage wire to the right direction didn't hurt. And, with a total of 
13 1-kilometer-long wires, there's always something to listen to.


A DXpedition this early in the season allowed for many extracurricular 
activities, such as building antennas, hiking on the tundra, more 
generally enjoying the nature, and shooting the northern lights without 
freezing your toes off.

Moi,

En malta olla kehumatta Hannu Romppaisen paljon työtä vaatinutta 
artikkelia: se oli erittäin hyvä katsaus jo pitkään jatkuneesta 
trendistä, loistava referenssilähde ja juuri sen tyyppinen artikkeli, 
jonka vuoksi Radiomaailmaa kannattaa vielä nettiaikanakin seurata. 
HAR:lla on tunnetusti historia hallussa. Jos jotain 
päivämääräepäselvyyksiä on, niin nehän voi koota viimeisen osan lopuksi.


Muutenkin numero 5/2011 sisälsi harvinaisen paljon ansiokasta sisältöä, 
erityisesti Ilkka Martikaisen "Lyhytaaltokuuntelun apuvälineitä", johon 
niin ikään on tulossa jatkoa. SSS:n kirja-arvostelu oli 
mielenkiintoinen, RV:n kokoama Lem-kullanhuuhdonta on aina mukavaa 
luettavaa, ja RK:n tunnetusti hauska matkakertomus vei tällä kertaa 
harvinaiseen pääkaupunkiin. Upeaa! Kokonaisuudesta kuuluu tietysti iso 
kiitos HAA:lle. Journalistisen talkootyön värväys on usein 
epäkiitollista puuhaa.


Jos tällä postituslistalla on sellaisia dx-kuuntelijoita, jotka jostain 
syystä eivät vielä/enää ole Suomen DX-Liiton jäseniä, niin jo pelkästään 
Radiomaailman numero 5/2011 on sen väärti, että jäsenmaksu kannattaa maksaa.

[HCDX] New DXpedition base in Finland becomes instant success

The first ever purpose-built DXpedition base in Finland was constructed 
earlier this year, tested by us in October, and found to be excellent. A 
spartan cabin in the middle of nowhere is equipped with nine beverage 
antennas, each almost a kilometer in length. A bunch of New Zealand AM 
stations and a 10-watt highway advisory station from Alaska were among 
the highlights heard in Aihkiniemi.

The 291st DXpedition to Lemmenjoki did not yield coveted Aussies or

Spectravue-softan kehitys jatkuu, tuorein versio julkaistiin lokakuussa. 
Olen käyttänyt tätä SDR-14:ää Acer Aspire 3610 -läppärin kanssa, ja voin 
myydä myös läppärin sopuhintaan 200 euroa, niin että kasassa on heti 
toimiva paketti. Läppärissä on dx-käyttöön hyvin riittävät 4 
USB-liitäntää, XP-käyttiksellä. Sekä radio että läppäri on testattu 
viimeksi lokakuussa Lemmenjoella.


Edellinen SDR (Winradio G313e) meni kaupaksi parissa tunnissa. Tässä on 
kuuntelu- ja nauhoituskaistaa lähes kymmenen kertaa enemmän. Myydään 
nopeimmalle, haku Vantaalta.

[DX] Lapland DXpedition on DXing.info

I have published a report on the recent LEM278 DXpedition to Lemmenjoki 
in Finland's Arctic North. Lots of reindeer, but even more radio 
stations. Conditions on the AM band were pretty good, with many 
interesting catches especially from the Americas. Check out the details

Returned to Finland a few days ago from a two-week assignment in Qatar,
reporting from CENTCOM briefings etc for YLE TV & Radio. Pretty busy all
the time, so I barely had time to use a Sangean 909 which I bought just
before departure. No new discoveries on the dial, BUT Camp as-Sayliyah
proved to be the right place to find out more about Information Radio
and Commando Solo: Where do the transmissions on different frequencies
really come from? Where are the aircraft based? And how many are they?
When and how were the transmissions extended - and how much of it was
revealed in the Coalition press briefings? And the rest of the story.

On January 6 I learned that Amazon still had not delivered the new WRTH
2003 to those who had ordered it via DXing.info (or via any other way).
I started investigating, and was in touch with Amazon several times.
Amazon began an inquiry, and got in touch with the publisher of WRTH.

It turned out that Amazon had listed a wrong ISBN number for the book.
Amazon called it a "mix up" - the new WRTH had eventually been published
under a different ISBN than originally registered by Amazon, which is at
least partly to blame for the delay.

A couple of days ago Amazon told me that because all existing orders
were placed under a wrong ISBN, they would inform their customers
shortly about the problem. Now they have done that. All orders have been
cancelled and Amazon is inviting everyone to place a new order with the
correct ISBN. It took some time to fix the info on the Amazon website,
but now also that has been updated.

You can still place an order for the WRTH 2003 at

you can get 30% off the normal price, but to get free shipping, you need

YLEn TV-uutisissa Mika Mäkeläisen raportin Brasilian karmeista
vankilaolosuhteista. Ehkä Mika tulee myös kertomaan  paljon
tarkemmiin brasilialaisesta mediamaailmasta kuin minä koskaan. Lomamme
toissijainen tarkoitus oli DX-kuuntelu; ensisijainen tarkoitus  oli
Auringosta ja lämmöstä nauttiminen. Ehkä  joutavanpäiväinen
väittely MD-soittimista sopii hyvin ajan ja tämän ryhmän
henkeen. Ei niin  minkäänmoista kommenttia Brasilian matkasta,
tai "kuuntelusaavutuksistani". R
