There is no "Labels" menu that I can find in 8.05. Are you using an
older version?

In 8.x, Paul made three clearly-delimited menus:

  QSLs
  LoTW
  eQSL

They have similar functions, but there should be no confusion as to
which one to use.

Labels sounds like something from 7.x or earlier.

Re: [Dx4win] How to change the "Label" flag in a log????

2012-02-22 Thread Guy
Thanks guys for the suggestions. I did change File>Preferences>QSO
defaults to "None" and saved the .ini file so all future uploads will have
the Flag set to "None" per Jim's suggestions.

I did "discover" a 3rd method under Labels>Clear Print Flags which did
change all my qso's to Label = N which is what I wanted. You can also use
this function with a QSO filter "active" for a subset of your log.

Last week it was reported “LoTW credits for HK1N and HK1T during
early January of this year are showing up as Colombia, not Malpelo,
which is where they were actually located”.  Yesterday we received
reports the logs from the Malpelo Island for operations by HK1T have
been uploaded to LoTW, however you need to make sure you upload your
QSO as “HK1T/HK0M”.  As a side note this is not what Sal was signing
on the air.  He was giving HK1T.  Sal was one of the “fantastic four”
on Malpelo Island between late December and early January.  He along
with HK1MW, HK1N and HK6F were all active with their calls prior to
HK0NA activity.  No word yet on when the other three will upload
their logs to LoTW for credit with Malpelo.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and Icon IC PW-1 data clashes

2012-02-22 Thread Larry Gauthier (K8UT)
Jim (et al),

Yes, Jim and I have exchanged email about the CI-V protocol and his efforts
to tame the PW1. As I understand it, K9JM's (www.k9jm.com) device is a piece
of hardware, running custom software developed by Jim, that breaks the CI-V
bus into segments and isolates traffic to the PC, the radio, and the PW1
amplifier as necessary. A neighboring ham has recently ordered one of Jim's
CI-V Routers and has promised to let me run my CI-V tests against. If I
encounter any issues (which I don't anticipate) I'll work with Jim to their
resolution.

Otherwise, I plan to refresh my "Riding the CI-V Bus" articles with the
results... and of course will post a message to the reflector.

I'm curious, is "Jim's CIV router" a piece of software that sits
between the hardware and DX4WIN? Is it something that anyone can
install? I wasn't clear from either description.

Maybe someone can write up an application note on how to use all four
together:

- DX4WIN
- ICOM radio
- PW1 amplifier
- router software

I'll happily re-format it and post it on my DX4WIN support site.

Note that K8UT wrote up a long note about the ICOM protocol, see:

http://www.k8ut.com/tiki-listpages.php

I don't know if Jim saw this beforehand.

This is a function of your QSO preferences. In 8.0x, look for the
box at the top that says, "Label/Upl flag". Uncheck "QSL card" and
save your preferences before importing the log. This will prevent the
Label flags from being set.

There is an option under "QSLs" in the QSO window to clear label flags
if you want to undo what's already been done. You probably should set
some sort of date filter (using F8), otherwise it will clear all the
label flags in your log, unless that is your intention.

I use N1MM a lot for contesting, dxpeditions, etc.  When I import the .adif

I want to change this Label flag to "N" for all qsos.  I looked at the

not included.

I thought I had done this on previous logfiles but can't remember or find
info to accomplish this.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and Icon IC PW-1 data clashes

2012-02-22 Thread Sam Leslie -- W4PK
I am happy to report that Jim's CIV router now works with DX4WIN!!!

It turned out that DX4WIN expects to see an echo of its commands whereas
N1MM and other logging programs do not. It was a simple matter for Jim to
enable echoing and he has already implemented that change into his software.

His CIV router has three CIV jacks on it. I plugged my IC7800 into one, the
PW-1 into another one, and my existing CIV bus to the third one. My SteppIR
and my 20-year-old SAS-6 antenna controller are connected to that bus and
they both work flawlessly. The SAS-6 is connected via RS-232 to my CIV bus
and I use a MAX232 device to convert the CIV data to RS232 data.

He uses an Arduino MEGA 2560 controller board to mount his CIV controller
board on, and it connects via USB. He describes a procedure to assign a com
port to the device. DX4WIN will work with any com port that is assigned to
it, but I had to make sure that the com port assigned was less than 8 for
N1MM compatibility. I set up my baud rate to the router at 38300 baud and
my CIV bus to 19200 baud.

This is a must-have product for anyone using a PW-1, and I highly recommend
it! Go to www.k9gm.com for details.

Hello George, I have a 7800 and PW1, and I am working with Jim K9JM to see
if we can get his CIV router to work with DX4WIN. His router isolates the
PW1 from clashes so I hope that he is successful. It works with N1MM just
fine here so I am anticipating that Jim will have success with DX4WIN. Take
a look at K9JM's web site www.k9jm.com where he explains in great detail how
he has solved the problem.

I had not known about the data clash problem until very recently. I have a
PW-1 with a blown power supply and this has been a very expensive lesson for
me. One of these days I will attempt to take that power supply out and see
if it can be repaired. In the meantime I bought a new PW-1 but for now I
manually select the bands and do not have the CIV bus connected.
