Thanks Paul!

That worked and the Groups and Group Names are restored. Meanwhile I did rid
the log of duplicates a few days ago . The Group Names may have gotten deleted
when I did that.

Jim,

If I understand you correctly, you have two logs. ONE with the group names

but not the latest QSOs, and number TWO without group names with the latest
QSOs.

In this case:

Open log ONE

Delete all QSOs (QSO | Multiple QSO operations)

Merge log TWO (File | Import | Merge DX4WIN log)

File | Save As using a different name just to make sure,

--Paul, KK4HD

PS I have no idea how this can happen, except for importing a log into a

new log that did not have any groups defined.

[Dx4win] Groups

2015-02-05 Thread NS4Jay
I've been using DX4WIN for many years. I am running 8.05. It had been a year
since I was on the air. Last weekend I used DX4WIN log a US island activation.
I had no problem adding a group number for this activation but the group name
edits was all greyed out and I could never set the group name.
Any idea why. I even tried starting a brand-new log and it was still grey.

Jay,

Under File, Preferences, Personal tab, User Level - you must have selected
at least Advanced (Expert will work also). Then File, Save Changes and
close and re-start the program.

You may want to change back to the Regular user level after you do that, so
you don't screw too many things up while you are re-learning the program
(it's the voice of experience).

Hope that helps.

[Dx4win] Groups, and DXCC/VUCC After A Move

2008-07-12 Thread S.K.
Hi, folks-

Sorry to ask about what is likely a common problem, but I'm completely stumped
over creating a group.

I'm using 6.04; my Selection and Edit Group Names options under Filter for my
log (I only have one .dxl file that stores everything) are grayed out. I've
read the help file to no avail.

Since I've moved to Connecticut, I'd like to subdivide my log to groups before
and after the move. Here's the rub; I'm a VHF'er as well as a DX'er; I track
both grid squares and countries.

DXCC rules state a QSO counts as long as you're in the same country. VUCC rules
state that QSOs only count if you stay within 200 KM of your main QTH. As I've
moved to CT, I have to start collecting grids all over again.

I'm looking for a way to group my QSO's so that my grid totals are tracked
separately between Illinois and CT, but my DXCC totals on VHF are still lumped
together. Is this possible? If so, how would I do it?

Thanks!

 Guy,

I just tried installing to C:\dx4w704 and it did not
 work. So I uninstalled
Dx4win again and deleted all associated files and
 directories. I then tried
again, installing to C:\dx4w704 and then tried
 installing to the default
 directory C:\Program Files\dx4w704. Both instances
 gave me the same
problem. So I uninstalled dx4win again, cleared all files,
 etc. I then
reinstalled to the default C:\Program Files\dx4w704
 directory. I then
recovered my old dx4win directory from a backup disk and
 placed those files
into the C:\Program Files\dx4w704 directory on top
 of the just installed
files. Vista wouldn't let me recover to the Program
 Files directory
directly so I had to recover to the desktop and then move
 the files to the
Program files directory. I then ran dx4win and all now
 works correctly. It
 works but I'm not happy!

You just have to love VISTA!

I've had Dx4win 7.04 running without any problems on a
 Windows Vista machine
for quite a while. It was installed in
 c:\dx4win\dx4w704 to avoid the know
Vista problems. I just got a new computer, also running
 Windows Vista.
Both versions are Home Premium 32bit. I just installed
 7.04 on the new
machine in exactly the same location. I copied all my
 \save files to the
new save directory and copied my license file to the
 c:\dx4win directory.
With the license file in the c:\dx4win directory,
 Dx4win starts up in Demo
mode and says nothing about my license file. c:\dx4win
 was the location for
the license file on my old machine and DX4win work
 correctly with it there.
I moved the license file to the c:\dx4win\dx4w704
 directory and now when
started, Dx4win gives me the bad license
 file... message.

I'm out of ideas. At this point I'm not sure where
 the license file
belongs. I've tried starting the installation file as
 well as Dx4win while
in admin mode with no luck. Help!

That hotfix was for WINXP pre Service Pack 2. Service Pack 2 includes the
fix and I am running XP with SP2.

My problem is still there. No problem to control the radio with DX4WIN
through the RigExpert interface. If I set the Com port up for keying
through DX4WIN I can send CW but I crash the computer when I use DX4WIN to
either Start or Stop the radio. If I set up DX4WIN for LPT keying I do
not have the crashing problem. So, there's definitely something DX4WIN
doesn't like about this Com port setup.

I'm really scratching my head over this one. Anyone else have any thoughts?

DX4WIN and RigExpert Crashing System ...

 Message: 2 I am using DX4WIN version 7.01 in conjunction with a
 RigExpert interface box.
I can get to the point of rig control and CW keying and sending, but if
 I click on Radio Stop
or Radio Start my WinXP PC crashes and the Blue Screen indicates the
 file ks.sys as the
culprit. I have tried various configuration set-ups both in DX4WIN and
 the RigExpert interface
box driver but always with the same crashing problem. I had read
 somewhere that DX4WIN
is not friendly towards Com port CW keying. Is this my problem? Or am
 I missing something
in the configuration setups? Any suggestions would be greatly
 appreciated. Thanks, Tony N2SS

What kind of PC are using? I diid some looking around concerning ks.sys.
There is a common blue screen error with ks.sys with Computers with
Intel Hyper-Threading CPU. Microsoft is aware of this problem and created
a hotfix, so you might check out the article and see if this fix might
help you?

[Dx4win] Groups

2005-11-25 Thread Roger D Johnson
I finally figured out how to get it to do what I wanted
(with a little help from friends)! The procedure bears
absolutely no relation to the prededure given in the
manual or help file!

I used the SEARCH function under FILTERS to set a date
range. Then using MULTIPLE QSO OPERATIONS under QSO, I
set the date range to whatever group number I wanted.
After that it was easy! Just go to FILTER/EDIT GROUP
NAMES and enter the group number descriptions.

Thanks to all who replied.

log exact frequency? It is likely in the docs, but I couldn't find it
so I am taking the lazy approach and asking.

Thanks
Stan

[Dx4win] Groups

2005-01-26 Thread Ted Sarah - W8TTS
Sorry, I meant the Group Definitions. The Group numbers are in the
individual QSO records. It's the Group Definitions that are missing.

Stored in your log (.DXL) file.

Today while working on the country file, AX0MT on Macquarie came and went
on 40 meter SSB. That would have been a new band country for me, but I
didn't know. There was no red bar across my DX spots window because AX0MT
wasn't in the country file yet! Special prefix for Australia Day.

I hope some of you worked this rare one. Just because I'm working on this
stuff doesn't necessarily give me any advantage :-(

[Dx4win] Groups and the madness of crowds

2004-09-06 Thread George

There is a known bug in the groups facility in V6.03.
I have reported it several weeks ago, as have others.
For some reason the PREFERENCES/QSO group number changes on it's own accord.
It is very annoying and I hope will be dealt with soon.

Just as I thought I had the use of groups
down..along comes my annual ARRL DXCC return with
the totals for the cards I put in this year. I
thought I knew how to use the filter to just show
(and report) those QSO's for a particular group.
Now I find that I cannot figure out how to
generate a DXCC report (detailed listing) that
does NOT contain entries from other groups so far
as 'confirmed' contacts are concerned. I use
group '0' for the home QTH's contacts and other
group numbers for the various remote locations
I've used over the years. When I set the filter to
only select group '0', I see 'Confirmed' contacts
from other groups (like group 8) when I double
click on the 'C' entry in the list of my DXCC
detailed listing. Anyone out there give me a hand
with this?
Thanks!

Last night I was on 40M working a string of europeans and when I went
to shut down, following a save, the program came up with a screen
saying I was using a non-licensed version and saving was not permitted.
  What is going on?

[Dx4win] Groups

2003-06-03 Thread David
Hi,

PY2YP SV1DPI have been very helpful regarding setting up my log using
groups but I'm a bit stuck when it comes to importing an ADIF file.

Can some one explain this regarding groups When adding new QSOs, the
initial value is obtained from the default QSO (which one is that and how do
you change it?). All subsequent entries will be copied from the last QSO
entered.

I'm trying to import an ADIF file and I want the group to be set to say 001
can someone enlighten me as I seem to be a bit thick today.

Regards

David
